Coronavirus: Vietnam evacuating 80,000 from city after three positive COVID-19 tests

Is it just me, or does this sound like the way that you spread the virus?

The country is still closed to foreign tourism, but there had been a surge in domestic travellers looking to take advantage of discounted flights and holiday packages to local hotels and resorts.

 

For a moment there I thought they were talking about Thailand, take 2 -

 

Vietnam had gone 99 days in a row without community transmission before a 57-year old man was confirmed to have the virus on Saturday, according to state media.

Vietnam has no recorded deaths from the virus.

This is all going to rumble on for years isn't it. Desperate times.

Countries should learn to live with it. This reaction is overkill.

 

The fallout to the economy exceeds by far the virus. Many deaths have other underlying health issues.

I do hope that the Vietnamese Government look into this and let everyone know how it happened 

I used to live in Danang, but reading this makes me think I am glad once again to be in Chaing Mai. Seems over the top to me.

"On Sunday, state media said police in Da Nang had arrested a 42-year-old Chinese man it said was the head of a criminal group which helps people illegally enter Vietnam from China.

Authorities have not officially linked the new cases in Da Nang to illegal immigration."

 

 

   The three people who recently caught the virus are not the typical age range of people being trafficked . Could be that come Chinese were trafficked into Vietnam , passed the virus on to others and have yet to be caught ?

Doesn't seem over the top to me.  Vietnam is a country of 95 million that borders on China.  They had one of the most strenuous programs in the world to protect their population from Sars-Cov2 including an early shutdown of flights from China and then from everywhere and the most extensive program of contact tracing in the world.  When someone tested positive they traced that person's contacts and then traced the contacts of each of those people.  Apparently no other country did that.  And the result was zero deaths.  I wish the US had been as diligent.

Amazing how so many ignorant and uneducated people think that by contracting covid 19, it's a death sentence.  With the population in SE Asia generally a lot healthier than it's western counterparts, and with the rise of successful treatment options, the hysteria is over the top and frankly getting ridiculous.  95 million people, zero deaths, mass hysteria.  What is the world coming to?

Could be genes, could be diet, could be a multitude of things.  Even the "experts" have no explanation as to why some countries were  hit hard, while others like Japan with an aging population and high population density have not seen the projected carnage that the doom and gloom people were predicting.
