When you take the job of a PM of 70 million people, one should prepare to deal with some are are bound to show their displeasure and discontent in every which way, and as long as thailand is a democracy, those unhappy will continue to show it...

1. Thailand is no democracy

2. The PM is no PM. It is an extended military coup and Prayut Chnocha is the General who switched uniform and riggs elections since.

Unhappy people? Hm, might have one or two...

Christ, what's it cost to build a helipad in his backyard? Have him motor to work in a Huey. Nothing special required in comms -- he's not out of contact for that long. Oh, yeah, the knowledgeable man in the street would scream about the cement cost for the helipad, and for the Huey gas (Army pilot's already on salary, but they wouldn't realize that). That it frees up the PM's time and reduces traffic jams and related fuel costs of car commuters -- would be lost in the fact that the taxpayer paid for the helipad.

And, that all these knowledgeable men in the streets have the vote just assures Democracy is a wonderful goal -- except when idiots elect an idiot (I'm American). Careful what you wish for, Thailand.

Angry student comes to mind.

The interesting thing will be the reaction from the people if the enlightened ones do a severe crackdown on students, then all hell may let loose, and there may be some civil unrest, interesting times at present.

He is treated like any other head of State. Do you believe any of those in a position of power drive themselves to and from, and do not have security teams providing an escort wherever they go. If you do you live on another planet. A long time ago it might have been needed but with people who try and do stupid things to these people well tgats why they are escorted. Now, with saying that, not everyone working for the government needs an escort, only those who are in a position to do the work necessary to assist the people.

You're quite right, of course, but I was recently charmed by a picture of the President of Portugal, standing in line to pay for his purchase at a 7-11 store.

Yeah, the Honda Accord is a dangerous weapon. Jail everyone with one!

All cars on Thai roads are dangerous weapons. Dozens are killed every single day.

They should not all be jailed, but the ones who drive dangerously should be stopped, heavily fined, and lose their license for a while.

Oops, sorry, I just woke up from a dream. Nevermind.

oh dear ... I hope our PM was ok. Sounds like road rage if you ask me, the cops should find that road menace and quickly. I trust our Prime Minister general Khun Prayut Chan O Cha was unfazzed by the incident and carried on as normal. Good that nothing happened to anyone ...  that driver can be dealt with later.  Or was it another supporter wanting to greet our PM ....  who knows, he has millions of thai's who like him and support him.

What, in an aquamarine Honda Accord, surely you jest?

Red Bull boy and an aquamarine Ferrari image.jpeg.b6cc5f71feb6ab559b611b1eb0e394ad.jpeg maybe, but since he's not here, never mind.

I think his Ferrari is still having the body work repaired. Being forced to drive a mere Honda Accord is surely punishment enough. Oh the shame !

I've witnessed a motorcade with the PM (head of government, not head of State) in it and have seen normal civilian vehicles in front and behind, not having closed the road, a near impossible thing to do I would suggest in this country.

There were police vehicles with lights a flashing at the front and rear of the fairly long convoy. If someone was hacked off by the cavalcade driving quickly in the offside lane, they must have realised something unusual was occurring.

I have seen 3 car convoys, unmarked vehicles with blue lights and travelling between Farnborough airport and London with a certain head of State, before they became head of State. Travelling high speed along the M3 motorway, everyone gets out the way.

Yielding to emergency service vehicles.

Hacked off or not, best to stay out of the way, keep your head down and don't antagonize the keepers.

How did the pursuer know it was Prayuth?  Dark, bullet-proof glass?  It was probably just some guy taking advantage of following in the traffic-free slipstream.

Turns out it was a guy who was cut off my one of the motorcade's motorcycles:

"The man later told the police that he was outraged that one of the motorbikes that were part of the convoy cut in front of him while he was driving slowly on the left lane as he needed to go to the toilet. "

I saw Thaksin when he was PM and his wife Pojaman in their bulletproof Holden pull up at Gaysorn Plaza and they went shopping. Not much of an escort with them, a couple of cop bikes and another car and that was it.

I too wonder why, military trucks, tour buses, over weight/over loaded veg pick ups, and cement lorries with trailers feel it is their given right to travel in the offside lanes, forcing everybody to undertake?

No enforcement, everyone does as they like.

Given Thailand being the world's number one for road traffic deaths, surely it results in a lot of undertaking afterwards.

Obviously our current illustrious leader needs protecting from the people. Apparently there's quite a few not happy with the job he's claiming he's doing.

Perhaps there's a chance they won't vote for him again, even if a couple allegedly did the first time. I put it down to the pre-school kids he used to count the voting slips.

See these Motorcades quite often now probably never the PM but self proclaimed VIP's

on the highway they hog the right lane forcing people to overtake on the left and often block traffic I've honked my horn at them as well!

they deserved it! Better travel discreetly then no one knows who you are or take an helicopter.

I'm from an other planet. The Dutch PM regularly cycles to work (parliament is just a few km away from his house), can occasionally be spotted walking outside parliament on his own (My late wife found it absolutely facanating when she saw the PM walking a meter or so past her, that wouldn't happen in TH she said). If the PM or ministers do go buy car it's generally just 1 chauffeured audi. No escorts. Our head if state (king) may get a 2 motorcycle escort to accompany his car but he has also been seen cycling around on his own.

As for Prayuth: If a driver flashing his lights and honking upsets him and his security escort... 555

Yes, but the King of Holland is neither corrupt nor a dictator and everyone knows it. However in Thailand..............oh never mind.
