Looking for an IOS compatible camera surveillance system for our home. Looking on the net and online shopping sites it is hard to get good details on compatibility, keeping up with IOS updates, details, reliability etc.  Seeking advice from folks who have a good solution in place.

Looking for an exterior system to monitor our home while we travel.

-something we can look at real time via an app on our iPhones

-records on a loop/records a must

-we have short power outages a few times a week

-don't want to climb up to remove SD cards from a cam

-wireless would be better but can wire

-we live outside of major cities so finding good solutions is hard

-installation service would be beneficial but not required

-english language set up and maintenance

Probably a hard find in Thailand but putting it our there in hope someone has found a good answer.

HIKVISION CCTV system is quite popular in Thailand.

It is not very user friendly to setup but it is cheap and also meet all the check boxes below.

Once it is setup correctly, monitoring using IOS app is a breeze.

-Live view via an IOS app on iPhones.

-Network Video Recorder with 2 TB capacity can record on loop and still have enough capacity of hold about one month recordings.

-UPS is needed to ride out the short power outages a few times a week

-Cameras are network cameras and don't need to climb up to remove SD cards.

-Use power over Ethernet cable to deliver power and data to network cameras.

-Installation service is recommended as set up is not user friendly.

-User menus is in English language but not very use friendly to use.

Ring.

Arlo

Brinno

Search app store for surveillance video and many brands apps will appear.

Alhua

Pretty much all of them nowadays.

Some even have a web based portal viewer which is better than app based as you can log in and view from any device.

After doing some initial research company seems solid and as you said quite popular in Thailand.   Found a dealer that installs not too far away and going to pay a visit this week.  Have a page worth of questions for the dealer but thanks much for getting me started in the right direction! Cheers!

Hikvison is the company that is installing and developing the surveillance systems in Xinjang, China .. you might want to look into the ethics of buying their products.

Reolink offer similar pricee and spec’d kit. Take a look.

With all these cameras, you can view the rtsp feeds on your idevice which is your original question.

The local company who will be installing had a special on Hikvison (promo flyer attached) for 13900 baht. With all included it sounds like a good deal.   Figured it would be nice to have an established local company install in case of problems.  Will ask them about Reolink and see what they offer. As I have gained knowledge I know a bit more about what questions to ask now.  Never had the need for cams before so playing catch up. Read up on Hikvision.

Take a look at individual prices in AliExpress - 1080 cameras are getting a bit “old” now, especially if you need to read numberplates.

You can get an reolink 8 channel NVR is 6K that’s including the HDD, depending on what you can customize your cameras, 4 or 5K POE cameras are cheap enough these days. You might be happier with solar powered WiFi cameras in some locations.

The systems are easy enough to install, just terminate and plug the cables in, If you need help you can contact reolink in China via the chat in the app and they talk you through.

Your original post was about iOS - all (most) of these cameras produce a rtsp feed which can be viewed via a bit of simple tinkering, and you can view them on your iOS devices or Apple TV .. if you need some assistance then PM me.

It looks like the CCTV system in the above promotion is using coaxial cable and the cameras are analog. So it most likely cannot record audio. If you need audio, you can ask the installer for the system with IP-Cameras using power over Ethernet cable connected to Network Video Recorder.

Well spotted!

Why would anyone be selling a coax system in this day and age. A POE IP 4K camera system should be about the same price.
