PHUKET: After nearly a week of searching, police have tracked down and taken into custody the mother of the newborn boy found abandoned in Patong last Wednesday (Sept 23).

The mother was placed under arrest for child endangerment in Surat Thani yesterday, Patong Police Chief Col Aganit Danpitaksat explained at a press conference at Patong Police Station this morning (Sept 29).

The mother, named as Myanmar national Ei Ei Phyu, 40, was arrested at a workers’ camp in Tambon Tapan, Phunphin District, Col Aganit said.

She needs help, not punishment. What is the group photo for? an army of undercover cops to arrest a poor woman who is already suffering, I doubt any woman can abandon a newborn child easily.

  • Popular Post

Clearly she needs help. It looks like another job for the Paveena Foundation to step in and help this poor woman. But they probably won't as she is Burmese.

  • Popular Post

Sorry, but they just look like a bunch of thugs no wonder she broke down, she needs help you pricks not intimidated something like this should have women care assistants

  • Popular Post

Yep..arrest her...pile the pressure on...jail.

How sad.....she desperately needs help and support....poor soul.

My wife was given away by her mother......Her mother was 20 years old and already had a one year old, her husband had run off, she had no work, no income......should she have been arrested?

Disgraceful humiliating the poor woman like that.

So sad a woman being in a situation when she don't know how to care for her baby.

And then on top intimidated, arrested thrown out of work and country. I believe she is deeply sad for her baby.

I look down on a jurisdiction which does that to people like her.

This country has other people who really needed to be arrested and jail (not only red bull runner and those who helped him) - fgar more

Look at the bunch of arrogant morons in the photo... Thinking to themselves... Yippee we got her.

Pathetic really, the poor woman is in dire need of help, yet the a++e holes do nothing for her.

Absolutely Agree with yours replies
What a shame of the photo!
What a pity of a woman!
Thai Television will report all day of this type of shameful news throughout the country. I insist;  what a shame of a photo

Just part of the culture, unfortunately. Something that has fed the Thai prostitution business for decades, as abandoned mothers often have nowhere else to turn to make money.

Hunting her down like some vigilante like she's not already stressed enough, dont tell me she's going to get fined for this?

The photo is disgusting, but it's worth reading the further information in the linked article.

Police are aware of her circumstances and have referred her to the Ministry of Social Development (social services). Hopefully she will get some help.

“She did not have enough money to support her second child, so she decided to take public transportation from Surat Thani province to Phuket to leave her child here in the hope that he would be found safe and that someone else would be able to take better care of him,” Col Aganit explained.

Where did I or anyone else say that she was?

Sorry, but I have absolutely no sympathy for this woman abandoning this kid like this - or the angry stares of the mob in the photo.

There is no reason whatsoever she could not have given the child to an orphanage, taken it home or something. Anyone could have taken the kid - from a pedo to a salesman.

She had 9 months to plan the kids 'abandonment' and best this fool could do was abandon it like a piece of trash !

I take care of a child 'abandoned' at birth by the mother - but the mother planned this well in advance and as much as she did not want the kid, she also would not just dump it

What a heart less uncaring sod you are.

The poor woman must have been going through hell, not thinking straight, not looking at her problem logically.

You just the same as you rest of us, are totally unaware of what was going through the poor womans mind, heart less you are, shame on you making that post.

Desperate people do desperate things and none of us have any way of knowing what was going on in this poor woman's mind.

Her state of mind must have been dreadful to have to think of abandoning the child like that and she does need help, and I hope she gets it.

We live in strange times and to jump to conclusions is as wrong as abandoning a child. The Photo for this post is sickening!

  • Popular Post

The photo is of a sickening bunch of male thugs (not one of them in uniform) bullying a helpless woman who try's to hide her face the photographer must be very proud of his work. This woman needs help not bullying and photo ops for the thugs
