they will open if they realize soon that the safety box is out of dollars !

Certainly appears every new proposal is designed to attract revenue into the government 'pot' at minimum risk of a covid outbreak

Optimism? Thailand? In 'normal' I wouldn't use those two words together.

  • Forget it , 2020 is lost . I call the fastest reopen around March/April , and that would be if a vaccine would be on the market by end of November/ beginning December , which is highly optimistic . Af

whether we open up or not in the near future ,who will be able to go on long haul holidays? there is going to be mass unemployment in the west and things are going to be tough for the ordinary man in the street , ,

Im thinking may 2021. Waiting to see what happens this winter in the Northern latitude

I think that what will drive "opening up" here will be the decisions of neighbouring countries. If Vietnam, (in particular), Malaysia and Indonesia decide to re-open to tourists with a simple and cost neutral testing regime either on departure (doctor's certificate?) and/or a test on arrival, and start to scoop up whatever tourists wish to travel to South East Asia then the authorities here will be forced to very rapidly change their tune.

The most likely tourist sources are probably going to be Korea, Japan and Taiwan at a guess. The economic devastation in Europe and the USA will reduce travellers from those countries.

The question is, which is more dangerous to self preservation?   Covid itself, or bread line riots?

    Good point .

Media fueled pandemic panic/ fear, Covid-19 . The masses bit , the bait ..

Self preservation , eat or starve ...

    Time will tell ..
