CHIANG MAI, Oct 10 (TNA) – Tourists flocked to Doi Inthanon, the country’s highest mountain, to feel the morning temperature of 10 degrees Celsius while local officials predicted booming tourism in this tourist attraction this winter.

For this weekend visitors were impressed with the cold weather and the sea of mist in the Doi Inthanon National Park in Chom Thong district. Temperatures measured 10 degrees Celsius at the popular Kew Mae Pan viewpoint, 11 degrees Celsius on the mountaintop and lower at night.

Local officials expected booming tourism and extremely cold weather at the national park late this year.

They will need a lot of locals to replace the 100 Billion Baht they've lost from the lack of foreign tourists this year.

Saw winter Parkas in the stores yesterday as I walked around Central World, and Siam Paragon.  I asked my GF why anyone would wear such a heavy coat here, and she said they buy for when they take a trip to Korea, or Japan.  Just after she said that we saw a lady walk by us with a full length parka on with the hood up, and high heel's, and I started to laugh. Has to be a fashion statement here.  I wear shorts and polo shirts down to about 45, then I will put a pair of pants on.  Grew up in cold weather country, so I would get strange looks when I walked up to the top of Doi Inthanon during the cold weather to see the frost on the trees, and bushes, wearing my sandals, shorts and Polo shirt.

Who would seriously want to travel within Thailand at this time with the continuous rainfall we are experiencing?

Traveling in the rain unfortunately is a necessity and it does not rain everywhere at the same time.  They do make rain wear if you do not want to carry a bar of soap with you and shower in the down pour.....

Continuous rainfall? I know a low depression was forecast for most of the country for this weekend.

Here in Phitsanulok we have had Mr Sweet from the Football Association.

Not you !! Some people do like to travel and with this rain the waterfalls look better then when they are dried up in the summer when there is no water . And there are still some places where there is quit a lot of sun during the day .

This refers to the 14-day inmates screaming to get out of their rooms cells ?

Maybe not the site for you? Thailand at the moment has lots to criticise. Most expats criticise out of the love for Thailand and want to see it inproving, progressing and not regression.
