Featured Replies

Wow that’s great news to spend millions to promote STV. First let the people with officials visa return. It takes a lot of reflection and Sense to make this decision

It's been so quite without tourism, not looking forward to all the traffic and queues these 400 are going to make

With all do respect , It amazes me how fellow expats have distain for tourists in a country you choose to live that has ALWAYS had tourists. Might i suggest some island in the South Pacific or rice field in esaan

I laughed so hard when I read that sentence, I almost fell out of my chair. Since when do Thais not tolerate violence??? What a joke.

Actually i don't think so, if you look at countries that went into full lock down and closed their borders, and even in China's case, closed their cities off completely, then you'll see their Covid cases are very low.

Very low covid in countries on full lockdown. Easy to do in communist China and other military run countries that insists the harsh rules .  Double edge sword (except for super power China) that the economy falters and citizens starve

BANGKOK (NNT) - The Minister of Tourism and Sports expects that there will be approximately 400 foreign visitors in early November and expressed his belief that the Bangkok protest situation will not affect their confidence.

Expect and what you get are totally different .

How much does this belter get paid or backhanded by the Chinese?

His village must be missing an idiot

And in the first week of November there will be about 400 road deaths so thailand won’t tip over with the added weight

Chinese are not in tourist banner. Just victim banner. They do 0 for Thai people. They are not wanted either. Just like your gov. Not wanted and you don't look like the right man for the job ????????????

I'm certainly no supporter of this government, very much on the side of the protesters. However, I do believe that they got things right with the covid situation.

What about the (stranded) retirees who do contribute much more for the

Thai economy that any of the Chinese “tourists”?

The money,we stranded retirees keep in thai banks, is doing just  fine. No need for us to spend anymore money than a bus load of valued tourists at a seafood buffet

True but no country can keep their borders closed forever.  For many (more than thai officials will admit) the money generated from tourists is enormous.  Trickle down economics is largely ignored.  Thais directly affected by tourism or lack of  now have less disposable income to buy goods and services from those so called thais surveyed that didnt care about tourists.

Or? Is there a choice between quarantine and something else?

what is meant by " something else " ?

Hardly confidence inspiring.

Last week it was:

TAT: We'll be top five tourism revenue earners in the WORLD in 2021 - tourists to spend 1.5 TRILLION

Why so pessimistic this week Mister minister?

Fake news. More wishful thinking.

So they trickle down from Chinese, and again you're not content.

Comedy Gold......."He expressed his confidence that the recent student demonstrations won’t affect the confidence of foreigners because tourists understand that Thailand does not tolerate violence".

Just when you thought you'd heard it all......... Complete the comedy sketch with the best whites as well...... I don't know about you but i'm sick of uniforms......  Stuffed and full of you know what........

Someone should explain to the honourable gentleman that Thailand is known world wide for Prostitution, military coups, murders, gun violence, lies, corruption, unfairness, dual pricing, racism, and general thievery condoned by the sticky fingered mob running the heist......       Tell you what mate....... You and yer mates Do one and let us all just get back to normal..........

Well, I don't see them opening their borders until;

1- Covid numbers are under control in the west

2- there is a vaccine.

But time will tell I guess..

400 Tourists coming, while thousands of foreigners are begging to come back. Which one will have a bigger impact on Thailand? Again there is no vaccine for stupid, but I hear the Chinese are working on one!

The 120 Chinese did not make it to Phuket because of the Vegetarian Festival, I wonder if those 400 can or will make it amidst of a protest if few hundred 1000s.555

Instead of making daily statements asking for sympathy why not close down this ministry and transfer them to the public works or education ministry to solve the local issues instead of begging for international tourists.

Will kickstart the Thai economy. Good luck Thailand!

400 foreign tourists? Chinese yes. They have place enough for all to do quarantine?? Or are they super human and no need to do? Disgrace for those Thai citizens who did quarantine on the way back????

400 Chinese

Put them in non-metered Taxis......5000 baht

take them to market and sell them cheap chinese stuff....... 555

then make sure they check-in every 11 seconds

quarantined for the next 100 days, then overstay

You could fit 400 into empty condos in the block I live in.  Please don't though.

I hope they know that this quarantine 14 days is BS it really is 16/17 days

they say when you arrive zero day and you can only get tested every seven days which is a load of rubbish so I hope you got a few extra holidays up your sleeve
