Rescue services in Phan Thong, Chonburi were called after a municipal grass cutter suffered a severe leg injury when a blade broke.

The shinbone of Wirayuth, 38, was broken. He was given first aid at the scene and taken to Phan Thong Hospital.

A colleague called Samran, 39, said they had been clearing up the area around a pond at the temple of Wat Ban Rai in preparation for the Loy Krathong celebration this weekend.

He heard his friend cry out in pain and thought that the blade snapped when it hit a stone.

That's a Honda UMK and that blade is not standard.

The blade will be 'Flying Monkey' brand or similar.

It's good they put the shields up when they are cutting the road verges, doesn't help the workers though

What could go wrong using a blade like that.

Lucky it hit a leg and not some ones head

This is the reason why I only use cutters with nylon cord.

Logic !! I still would not use it without a guard.

Nothing wrong with these blades if used properly, might have helped if the operator was using proper wellington boots with shin protection.

Thai Watsadu blades are excellent.....well.....?

Many Operators of these Bush Whackers wear a Heavy Leather Apron that reaches to the  Ground.

Stops any Stones, Broken Bottles Etc causing any injury.

Wrong. The popular brand is 'Three Ducks Flying East' ????

Surprised  those that do the central reservations on main roads  live  long anyway, if the cutter  doesn't get them the vehicles  will. Anytime I see them I give them a wide  berth for what they may  hurl  in my direction.

This is the reason I showed my missus how it works.
