MG Extender : good pickup truck ?

Hi, i need to buy a pickup, the MG Extender 4 cabs is cheap, what do you think of it ?

It is a re-badge Chinese Maxus T60, I have never seen a Maxus T60 in LOS, but perhaps there are.

The Chinese have bought the "British" MG name to sell stuff...

If you do a search for Maxus T60 for any probs it may help you...You may have to do a Chinese language course though...????

The previous model was LDV T 60

It sold in Aus

A mate of mine has one, treats it like hell and it keeps going

Also a lot cheaper than the jap models

I wouldn’t risk it. 
- MG have a history of going broke. I can’t see them being around for ever in Thailand. 

- MG were always poor quality, I can’t see the Chinese improving on it. 
- about a month ago I popped in to their dealership in Khok Kloy to ask about their EV. The lack of knowledge of the staff astounded us, she couldn’t answer any of our questions (I was with a thai, so it wasn’t just the language barrier).

Well if the MG Extender is the same as the first pick-up truck the Maxus T60 from the Chinese SAIC Motor Corporation built for the global market and it is the first Chinese-manufactured utility pick-up truck to score 5 stars on the ANCAP (The Australasian New Car Assessment Program ) Safety Rating it can't be bad can it.

I had a MGA &  MGB GT models for years in the UK every one was an excellent motor.

Performance? 
 

Because of 4 cylinder rubbish performance, rubbish handling, rubbish build quality and I suspect they will have rubbish servicing standards in Thailand.
it is well documented, one of the main reasons they have gone broke so many times. 
 

I wouldn’t buy one, that is my opinion, if you think they are good, then go ahead. They are cheap. I wonder why?

 

UK cars are infamous for their poor build quality. I suspect the only people defending them are from the UK who have taken it personally. 
China is also infamous for poor build quality. They will continue the MG tradition I am sure.

You state  you want to buy cheap", have you  looked at the remaining Chevrolets for sale? I  picked up a top spec 1.5  cab for  just 525k but  lesser models are available  still. This  includes, 3  year warranty 100k km leather steering wheel, 180hpengine, cruise control, abs , alloy 18"wheels and a  whole raft of other  equipment.

My cousin had one when we shared a business together. So I was often in it. MGB about 1970 from memory. A creamy yellow color.

Noisy, rattles from everywhere, uncomfortable seats and a leaky roof. Always in the garage. I am trying to think of a worse car that I have spent any amount of time in, but can’t.

Girlfriend at the time had a little corolla Seca was heaps quicker. I had a 928s at the time, polar opposite to the MG “performance sports-car”

Would you also trash the very famous Austin/Morris Mini Cooper S, who used the same engine build as the MG Midget....

To make a modern day comparison, my weeeee non turbo 998cc Suzuki Celerio has around the same HP as the old school Mini Cooper S....????

But just for you a pic of the MGB V8 drive train .....????......Oh, and they did put a 3000cc 6 pot into an MGB too, model was called an MGC.....

Great pic,  on my 1800 'B' MGB hard top I changed the SU's for twin choke webers gave it that little kick back at certain revs good fun.

Never had an MG but had a TR6 - no power, crappy suspension

327 4-speed fixed the lack of power, and coil overs fixed the hydraulic link-type rear suspension.

Saw lots of BMW dropped jaws
