PHUKET: A 28-year-old man died after his motorbike hit a roadside concrete post on the road from Baan Pru Sam Phran to Thepkrasattri Rd in Thalang this morning (Dec 9).

Lt Thitiwat Asasing from Thalang Police said officers were informed of the accident by local residents at about 7am.

Police arrived at the scene, about a kilometre from the Saladaeng intersection, with Kusoldham Foundation workers to find the body of Akkhadet Innueng, 28, beside the road.

How did he manage that on that long bend?

Where is the concrete post?

Is that the officer's lunch in the bag?

Another tragedy on Thailand's roads. CB150R so likely "boy racer" going too fast leading to lost control.

Concrete posts at the side of a road is madness.

From my experience riding a bike on a road  like this is that it is as likely due to avoiding  an oncoming vehicle passing another blind as it is any fault of the motorcyclist ! A Honda  150 CBR is no quicker than a  Sonic if  speed was a factor.

"dang stationary post jumped out'n' hit me"

Why do they even report this anymore - this guy died, that bus overturned, this lorry's brakes failed; it's not exactly news, like does the sun set and rise each morning.

Or maybe a puncture at 60 kph? He was wearing a full face helmet. To me that indicates someone with some common sense.

RIP young man.

Or looking at it another way

Could have been many things, best let the Police carry out a full investigation of the scene with the road closed to assist the accident investigation team and then and only then can we know the circumstances behind this daily occurrence.????????????????

Yes indeed, but there are many alongside Thai roads, especially in rural areas:-

They're monuments to dead motorcyclists.

Denotes edge of road, when you can't see it due to heavy snowfall...oh, sorry, wrong place...

Reflective strips to highlight the road limits.....or the post is a warning of the post itself.

Nothing new, some weeks ago a guy came home late on a single road leading into our village. Apparently he could not make the corner on his highly modified Honda Cub and ran off the road. Next day an old man taking his buffalo to the water hole found a bike half emerged in the rice paddy water. The guy's body was found some meters away. Cops recon he was still alive but struggled to make it to the edge of the paddy too intoxicated, he drowned in knee deep water.
