Ask all the sponsors that send money from abroad and ask all the farangs that take their shorttime girlfriends there to have dinner . By your reaction it seems to me that your a little agitated , is some thai girl spending your hard earned money or did in the past ?? My comment was more of a joking kind it wasn't a statement but you are reacting like it hurts you a bit . Take it easy Frits it's nothing personal keep breathing and enjoy your day live is hard enough already .

It might be a surprise for you but not everybody makes their money in the sex industry. Doesn't hurt me a bit, my wife has a business of her own.

The seller should be charges with fraud and scam for his action. He needs to be aware of the consequences.  This customer pays this price once and will never return. He is worse of.

But the government is doing the same with the dual price system for national parks. So the message is take as much as you can from the tourist. Disgusting attitude.

Foreigner pricing happens across SE Asia.  IMO it is entirely logical and fair as it is a way for the poor to develop their countries taking advantage of the spending power of rich Europeans etc.

In Indonesia it happens quite a lot but only at tourist attractions.  Restaurants still have "local" pricing thankfully... not enough tourists for the special establishments to be built.

Thai logic; fewer customers have to pay higher prices to tally the bottomline.

A clear proof again why tourism in Thailand was doing down the bowl quite some time PRIOR to Goveed Seepgaow.

Remember that place when it was packed with Chinese munching seafood as if there was no tomorrow .....

I would like to see what Khon Thai would have to say, if they - all of a sudden - would have to pay the "Farang/Tourist" price instead of Khon Thai at tourist sites; hell would brake loose ....

Price was advertised, if you want to pay 20bt go to a cart and sit at the roadside. The business owner has done nothing wrong.

I have to agree after doing a Google maps search on Mr 99 Pattaya, the restaurant is on Beach Road opposite the beach, so Waterview's would be obtained and the shop is wide fronted with lots of signage in big words clearly stating; Seafood & Steak, Thai & Euro food, so not was I was thinking previously.

I retract my 1st post, clearly within his rights catering for Tourists, and you would expect to pay foreign prices just on the set up and location alone.

a simple Grab food search brings up some Fried chicken with basil +egg = up to 160thb...( have cheaper too, but this is in top 'finds' as well)

no prime location,

add extra for delivery

bet they cater mostly to Thai

sooo,

yep, 229thb isnt cheap, but beach road, brick and mortar place, it is somewhat expected and acceptable.

Minced chicken with an egg on top for 229 baht is a travesty.

Thai social media was abuzz after a man called Padiphat Meebunmark went on Facebook to complain that he was charged 228 baht for a plate of "kapao kai with egg on top".

Irate netizens called for an investigation. Such a dish, chicken fried with basil, when bought at a roadside stall would probably cost about 60 baht, perhaps 5 baht more for the egg, notes Thaivisa.

Padiphat had been peckish on his way home and stopped for a takeaway.

However, when the authorities went to investigate they discovered this was no street hawker.

It was "Mister 99 Seafood" a large restaurant on beach road in central Pattaya - a place that caters mostly to tourists.

The item on the menu was clearly labelled - 199 baht plus 29 for the fried egg.

Manager Chaichana Amnuaypornphaisan explained that this was not a cheap stall but a place mostly for foreigners.

The customer was within his rights to make a complaint but Chaichana said they had done nothing wrong and asked for understanding from the public.

and let's add for good measure that when a foreigner orders Krapow Gai from a roadside stall and the price magically goes up from 60 baht to 100 baht, it's because the place is "catering to tourists"...

Next customer (Thai) back to 60 baht.

This Thai guy got the real farang tourist experience here.  He will go back home and say, "I think all farang must have big money."  ????

Maybe he should start his own Youtube channel comparing farang prices to Thai prices, all around Thailand.  Cha-Ching.  ????

utter greed, hope karma will catch up with him soon.

Why do you say that?

If his rent is hundreds of thousands of baht a month, it must be passed onto the consumer.  Whether the price point meets the market is a different question.

The greed is from the Thai landlords who have pushed rents up to the point they have exceeded what the market is willing to pay for F & B here.  We saw this last high season, pre covid, with a dead high season.   They have slowly outpriced Pattaya in Thailand, and in the region, for a value for money holiday.

I seriously doubt Mr. Padiphat Meebunmark has a farang sponsor.

Don't whinge about high prices if you eat at a fancy "sit down" restaurant. There's a reason that Thai-style places are so cheap.

"Fancy" ??? Did we look at the same photo of restaurant. If that's your idea of fancy....then????

Agree. Also the owner has to pay rent on a building in a prime location, which 65 baht carts do not have to do. Fair price

Its entirely up to you the customer if you get ripped off or not... go into the restaurant..look at the menu and if you dont like the prices of the food..simple just walk out.
