Morning all,

hope you are all not too hungover today ????

A friend of mine has just faced timed me from Thai town in sydney.

Said he was spending the day there with his aussie mrs eating Thai food.

What are your thoughts on these Thai towns?

I know they have quite a few dotted around the world,

never been to one myself..

When he rang it did raise the question in my brain..

'What would happen if we made an English town in Thailand?'

Would it be possible,, could be a good idea when the world opens up.

bakerys selling pies, cottage pie stalls, bettting shops, english pubs, few nice parks and a snow machine for those high on nostalgia.

sorry if this post seems a bit left field but im still a bit drunk.

merry christmas one and all!

I'm talkin english style bulidngs, food, drink, taxis, shops, the lot.

OP, the little England places already exist in Pattaya, Hua Hin.

You can spend the whole day in an English pub, drinking English beer, eating English food, watching English sport. In pattaya you can listen to a Brit radio station, the supermarkets a full of English food and snacks.

Its already here

Wetherspoons would go down a bomb in Thailand with their beer prices, Pie and a Pint for 99 pence

My Thai wife lived with me in England for 3 years.

I found a Thai temple near the Wimbledon area and there many Thais in that area shops and restaurants to.

I believe there's a temple in Birmingham and Edinburgh but didn't go to them.

Most Thais we met were mostly integrated into a lot of areas also some from Philippines.

If there were a great many Thais I guess there would be community set up like so many other races in and around UK.

"Farangland" ?...55555...????????

We already have one a few kilometers from the exclusive Natai Beach Phangnga.

Has been here since the tin mining days. They even named a main Soi and all the side sois off it and a village in the honor of these early three brave UK pioneers.

It is called Soi Baan Farang. It is where they lived in a grand Sino Portuguese style mansion with many servants.

One of them married a stunningly beautiful girl from Khok Kloy town who was the local gamnan’s daughter, had six children with her who were among the first Look Kruengs that are now so common, but returned to the UK after the mines closed.

One drowned while working a tin mine offshore at Kao Pilai and left a widow in Natai that still mourns him at the temple daily and three sons. She never remarried.

And the other one mysteriously disappeared after getting drunk and fighting with a local. Rumor has it that he is buried down a shaft on Mount Farang, which sits above Village Farang and can be seen in the photo I took.

I was going to post it before but I didn’t want to upset some people who falsely believe that Farang is a racist word.

But since Charlie moderator said it, here you go.

Soi Baan Farang. A beautiful place named in honor of the Farang.

I am not English.

i usually try to avoid them in bar areas. Some can get a little volatile on the drink.

Not only English get volatile when they drink. Many people do when drinking. The bane of alcohol consumption violent / beligirent drunks.

I would say there are already many foreigners in towns like Pattaya and Bangkok.

When i look around the neigborhood here in Thong lor I see many many white faces. There are shops selling foreign products. Its not much different then asian parts of town in western towns. Maybe a lil less foreign products as most people want things at the cheap and that is just not possible so its hard to have a good shop here and make a profit of just foreigners.

Importing stuff yourself is always cheaper and loads of people rather go for cheap then support a shop (i know i choose for importing myself instead of paying too much).

Thai / asian parts in Amsterdam or other places are not fully occupied by Asians just more of them but not only Asians. Though I believe its different in the US in some towns.

Personally Id say no need for this we can get everything already its just not viable.
