Hua Hin ramps up preventative measures against COVID-19

 

 

The Governor of Prachuap Khiri Khan on Tuesday announced a series of restrictions aimed at limiting the spread of the coronavirus.

 

A summary of business ordered to close with immediate effect until 1st February include:

 

• Entertainment - all bars, pubs, nightclubs and similar
• Water/amusement parks
• Cock and fish fighting venues, boxing venues
• All educational institutions, expect those with less than 120 pupils, police training schools
• Indoor play centres
• Nursery/day care centres/kindergartens
• Cinemas and theatres
• Snooker halls
• Amulet shops
• Massage shops, beauty clinics, spas, tattoo shops, soapy massage
• Indoor fitness centres/gyms/Muay Thai training centres
• Internet cafes/gaming shops/arcades or similar
• Rajabhakti Park and other similar historical sites

 

What’s open?

• Shopping malls, supermarkets and community malls remain open with increased screening and preventative measures in place.
• Restaurants can open but not permitted to serve alcohol
• Pet grooming
• Beaches - although likely no alcohol, maybe no food.
• Hair salons/barbers, but no appointment more than 2 hours, restrictions in place to limit queuing

 

A series of screening checkpoints will be set up at the following locations:

 

1. Borfai Area

2. Phetchkasem foundation (Hin Lek Fai Area)

3. Chayaraj Center (Bang Saphan Noi Area)

4. Nong Prig intersecion

 

Anyone who is found to have a temperature of 37.5c or higher will undergo a COVID-19 test. 

 

Anyone travelling into Prachuap Khiri Khan from Samut Sakhon or designated ‘red zone’ must report their arrival to health officials and self quarantine for 14 days. 

 

No public or private parties are allowed , except for marriage, Buddhist ordination or a funeral which must have been approved by the  Department of Disease Control and have strict social distancing measures in place during the event. 

 

Restaurants can open but are not allowed to sell alcoholic beverages.

 

Everyone must wear a mask when outdoors.

 

Anyone who does not follow the order faces a fine of up to 100,000 baht and/or 1 year in jail.

 

Peoople are also urged to follow:

D – Distancing
M – Mask wearing 
H – Hand washing 
T – Testing 
T – Thai Chana 

 

The news comes as Hua Hin on Monday confirmed its first case of COVID-19 from the new wave of infections sweeping the country.

 

The  patient, who has been confirmed as a border official, visited a number of locations in the city, including Market Village and Tesco Lotus, despite awaiting test results. She later tested positive. 

 

The order announced on Tuesday appears to replicate an order announced by the governor of Chonburi late on Monday.

Seriously, i drive now back to hua hin from bangkok, so if i need quarantine, i just do it right away or where to report?!

I got a question what the hell has serving alcohol got to do with the virus? Anybody Know.?Rcan serve food but not alcohol that would be a stupid rule if i ever saw one

Just lip service from the authorities, no one seriously cares about that.

Wonder the same.

Doesn't affect me much, but it does seem a dumb idea.

Are the rule makers all tea totallers, or quietly swilling away out of sight?

Just arrived in hua hin from bangkok 0 checkpoints...

I hope the Thailand actions, stay as is, and even tho people will get vaccines eventually, I believe it will be another year before we can take off the masks and quit the social distancing and other

cautions. This corona virus will affect us for another one or two moire years at least.

i think it is because people will sit and socialise a lot longer if alchol is available....  and therefore more chances to transmit the virus

last week at ban kun por beer was available and it was quite busy

 

now beer is not available this week, and it is very quiet
