Pattaya: Creepy pictures sum up dire state of tourism at once popular resort

Picture: "Trip Ka Dolls"

It was once the city that was full of lights and sounds, a tourism haven that never slept.

Now it is as quiet as the grave - thanks to Covid-19.

Popular doll site "Trip Ka Dolls" was really rubbing it in with a collection of pictures of "Annabelle" ( a character from the 2014 US supernatural horror film).

She was shown sitting on a chair in a deserted and eerie Walking Street, on a beach devoid of living souls and in Bali Hai where a once bustling port lies almost dead.

We Love Pattaya showed the images that were viewed and shared by thousands.

The Pattaya area and much of Chonburi is now in severe restrictions that are lockdown in all but name.

Manager called it Creepy!

The quiet Pattaya is a unique tourist attraction. When this special time is over it can take endless years until you can experience it like this again.

If the lockdowns carry on for much longer (past Chinese New Year in Feb) then I think Walking Street is forever lost to Thai's looking for somewhere to eat near the sea & us Farangs will be relegated to the places on the other side of 2nd Road.

RIP Walking Street, Soi7, Soi8.... Live Streaming will be the death of Soi 6...

By the time this blows through, most everyone will have forgotten the sink hole.

Sure, it will be back. But when? And how many owners, managers and employees will be bankrupt until then.

Source of your facts? Or is it wishful thinking from someone who has no idea that it's a very big world out there which is often better value, has better infrastructure, better attitude towards visitors, all closer to home. Numbers were dropping even before Covid, even including the Chinese.

Let me guess, could be something to do with the covid pandemic.

Pattaya is a huge place with loads of families, just not in the tiny Walking street area.

Looking forward to the next Pattaya is dead thread due out in approx 48 hours

Current situation can be summed up in one word, "COMPLACENCY" by the Government.

I'm more of the opinion the 'good times' have ended for everyone, everywhere forever.

And these photos are depicting the future as it is likely to be.

OH NO: The beach Is not covered with the usual carpet of plastic bottles and bags, from the young peoples overnight parties.  This plastic is usually swept in to the sea, to decorate the ocean, replacing the once alive, and beautiful coral reefs.

I thought she was looking for Chucky
