As Europe’s vaccination efforts falter, Russia and China are now seen as options

BERLIN — As the European Union's vaccination program stumbles, Russia and China are poised to fill the gap — with Moscow opening talks to produce vaccines in the heart of Europe and both building political cachet as they supply those scrambling for shots on the bloc's fringes. https://www.washingtonpost.com/world/europe/europe-vaccines-russia-china-germany-serbia/2021/02/04/cd1f674c-655d-11eb-bab8-707f8769d785_story.html?outputType=amp

Let's face it , buying ANY vaccine from China for their mess is the same as them deliberately knocking down your house and then charging you to rebuild it !

well at least with the CCP one

- they had the extra year or so of pre-research time availed to come up with an antidote

certainly did after learning how to create the virus in Auss labs where they were for a yr or so

Can't understand why Auss couldn't do if it was being experimented with in their labs

Russia just expelled Swedish, German and Polish I think diplomats for being part of the protests against Russian government. So you protest against government then ask that same government to help you with vaccines? Interesting ways EU has in operating and coordinating efforts.

wouldn't trust a single drop of anything coming from either one of them, nothing to brag about as nothing will happen as either one's reputation didn't change over night .... a cheater always a cheater

from your link:

Vaccines produced in Russia and China are already on the program in parts of the Balkans and Eastern Europe outside the European Union.

That prospect may not be far off, though data, particularly on the Chinese vaccines, remains murky.

The prospect of the Sputnik vaccine’s inroads into Europe comes as Germany is already under pressure to take a tougher line on Moscow following the poisoning and jailing of opposition leader Alexei Navalny. A planned gas pipeline from Russia to Germany is under particular scrutiny.

  • :cheesy::cheesy::cheesy: There'll be no Chinese gooley gum going into my arm!

I don't believe it,  wouldn't have one of their vaccines for anything.  Don't people learn anything from the past, that you can't trust one thing that comes out of either of those Countries.  WAKE UP!

China is at fault that the virus could spread all around the world.

And now they are selling a vaccine?

China early and quickly brought the virus spread under control in their country...don't blame them for the failures of other govts to do the same.

So you think it's a good idea to sacrifice your citizens to make a point. Latest indications are the the Russian vaccine has an efficacy of 91%.

And yet their Sinovac vaccine has a very low efficacy? Stop making things up.

But first you need to create an Orwellian police state.

Considering that China IS the problem here, they should give the vaccine all victims around the world for free.

It's somehow too obvious that they wanted it exactly like that.

America is currently receiving around 90 % of their medication from China, or substances for all sorts of medications.

If China would cut them off, Antibiotics only, it would be a disaster.

A National Security Threat?

"One of the biggest national security threats in the U.S.-China trade war could be to the everyday medicines taken by millions of Americans.

The U.S. relies on imported medicines from China in a big way. Antibiotics, over-the-counter pain meds and the stuff that stops itching and swelling — a lot of it is imported from China."

Till now nobody knows from where spanish flu came, certainly it wasn't from spain. Nobody knows from where covid 19 came. The problem is virus itself not china. No, they they don't have an obligation to give free vax, and  will be selling meds as long as there are clients. The threat is only if they suddenly withdraw selling.

i do bet rednecks would refuse to take chinese vax and they never would know from where medicines and many other products come. They are half literate to read the labels.

how many prisoners has died?

I should take a vaccine that basically doesn't work, relative to all others, just because China mass produces aspirin and other chemicals? Rednecks?

My understanding is the vaccine China is pushing overseas is the one they are not using internally.

Nobody is forcing anyone to take any vax. Many are begging for it and trying to buy for $ thousands on the black market. Sinovac was approved in china on 6.2, in the other countries  much earlier. China has already 3 other vax, and they have anorher 3 in phase 3.

thailand doesnt have any, even astrazeneca might be not coming, despite the government claims. And no chance for any other one, as there is worldwide shortage and now too late to make emergency orders.

52% efficacy is poor, but comparable to some other vax. Common flu has only 60%, dengue around same. Stll better than non and recommended

Absolutely every vax is going to be available on the black market. Stolen ones, because it's a long chain from the factory to the village clinics.
Also people who would not take a shot, but would take a vial from the nurse. They might take this vial to somebody else in the family or they are scared to take now or they are unwell now and would like to save it for later.
same as every medicine, there also would be counterfeight ones.

But they wont work, unlike fake medicines, which may work very well.
medicines as fake ones are also those made in the oryginal factory, bit made off record, for example afterhours or night shift, and distributed beyond official chain. They might even end up in clinics and hospitals.

COVID-19 News: Could The SARS-CoV-2 Coronavirus Have Originated From Southern Thailand? Could Southern Thailand Be A Hub Of Coronaviruses?

...

"The study stopped short of any implications that the SARS-Cov-2 coronavirus could have originated from Southern Thailand. However it is interesting to note that prior to the COVID-19 pandemic, the traffic flow of Chinese individuals and even Thais travelling between both countries was extremely huge…running into tens of millions every month and so was the trade between both countries.

Furthermore it is interesting to note the COVID-19 disease never had a big impact in Thailand compare to other countries as most locals were either asymptomatic or merely experienced very mild symptoms, maybe due to past immunity from numerous circulating coronaviruses. Perhaps the Southern Thailand regions could have been the ‘Hub Of Coronaviruses’ without anyone even knowing!"

Interesting study whose lead author is Supaporn Wacharapluesadee, aka, Thailand's own Bat Woman! See the bat on her wall.

image.jpeg.075429ff46af4be3835288a9134be614.jpeg

They compare a few bat viruses including the two I mentioned (96% similar RaTG13, and the new 97.2% similar RmYN02 brought to the Wuhan Lab in Oct 2019, both from Yunnan).

What she found in a 1m water irrigation pipe in Chachoengsao is named RacCS203. The paper is a good summary of bats in Asia, but they don't suggest this one is directly related to SARS-2 or COVID-19. In fact it does not even bind to the ACE2 receptor.

"...indicating that the RacCS203 virus is unlikely to use ACE2 as an entry receptor. This was experimentally confirmed by RBD-ACE2 binding studies..."

I quite admire both Bat Women who in some ways fill the roll of modern day super heroes. Both having vowed to help protect humanity. So far though it's Thai Bat Woman 1, China Bat Woman 0.

So let me get this straight.. the vaccine does not prevent me for getting the virus, nor does it prevent me from spreading it..the vaccine does however reduce the severity of symptoms...rather like some medications which are NOT being given to people where I come from in the early stages of the virus....So, if I want to travel I still have to quarantine for 14 days to stop the spread of the virus????

Posts involving an extended off-topic diversion about Chinese investments and property holdings in the Australia region have been removed, along with a number of trolling and unsubstantiated information posts.

maybe she likes to exaggerate things a bit: the TOTAL number of Chinese nationals that visited Thailand in 2019 was 11 million https://asia.nikkei.com/Spotlight/Coronavirus/Thailand-keeps-doors-open-to-Chinese-tourists.

By the way, we have seen similar stories before but then they were bats from Cambodia https://www.scmp.com/news/china/science/article/3119537/coronavirus-cambodian-scientists-find-close-match-pathogen (part of this story was already presented in a Nature article in Nov. 2020: https://www.nature.com/articles/d41586-020-03217-0). It is almost as if countries are vying to be the source country of SARS-CoV-2 (and there are lots of other countries all over the world with horseshoe bats). Hardly an honour one would think.
