Hello

just wandered how much faith people are putting into this 1st October thing for going to Thailand without Quarantine

I am thinking it might not be all open and just phuket and koh samui but I wander what your thoughts are

thinking of holidaying with my thai wife from UK in november when they hopefully open the whole place up

heard it from multiple sources not just the below so now starting to actually believe it...

I have no confidence in anything happening on or around October 1 at all.

It's all down to one man to decide, no matter what various government departments want

once Oz and NZ have no quarantine travel the floodgates will open.

It is possible that some will be allowed to enter without quarantine, providing that they jump through all the required hoops, but don't expect anything close to normal (pre covid) by October...and probably for a long time...

That discounting the third wave of a more easily transmissible variant. I'm not confident October will be anywhere near the end.

I think the Thai people have been very patient on this.  There's a lot of suffering going on and serious financial hardship (not in Prayuts accounts though).  It would not surprise me at all to see riots before too long if Prayut doesn't do something to get tourism running again.

I just read in the guardian that they will give us a top up vaccine as soon as the autumn for the 3rd wave variant. Furthermore a jab ecery year like the flu jab should allow the world to return to normality

I am sure I read that only tourists with a covid vaccine will be exempt (starting Oct 01) from an otherwise mandatory quarantine. Also, quarantine will be reduced to 10 days starting April 01.

October 1? We're still not sure what's happening on April 1, and not in a funny way.

Ask again in July.

Meh. He'll put down any pesky peasant revolt with an iron fist.

Despite all the announcements over the last few months, 1 October has been the most consistent date given.  Even the latest 10 day quarantine, due to start in a few days, comes with conditions - conditions we don't know the details of yet and could make it a non starter for many.

I suspect that 1 October has been the plan all along but even that will depend on how the virus is going and you can be sure there will be conditions.  I very much doubt that it will be business as normal on 1 October.
