The Thai government is once again looking at the possibility of Thailand hosting the 2034 FIFA World Cup.

On Wednesday, it was announced the Cabinet had approved the formation of a technical working group to come up with proposals on how Thailand, along with other ASEAN countries, could co-host the tournament.

It is understood that Thailand sees itself as the lead organiser of the event, with co-hosts Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore and Vietnam playing a supporting role, True Sport reported.

The Ministry of Tourism and Sports would be responsible for formally submitting the bid to FIFA ahead of the 2026 deadline.

This isn’t the first time an ASEAN bid to co-host the football’s biggest tournament has been proposed.

The idea was first mooted back in 2017, where it was reported the Indonesian Football Association saw itself as playing a lead role in hosting the tournament.

South Korea and Japan remain the only Asian nations to host the World Cup, holding the event in 2002, while Qatar is scheduled to host the 2022 tournament.

I think Thailand would be well suited, as FIFA is not unfamiliar with corruption.

This prestigious event will go well with the planned F1 Race and Tour de France...

They just make stuff up knowing they have zero chance of ever hosting a world wide event.

You know sooner or later, they will put in an Olympic bid.

Last week they sentenced 14 Thai officials to jail for match rigging offences related to fixtures in the Thai leagues. ????

What!!!!

THey can't even organise futsal pitches without corruption. How the hell are they gonna build stadiums for the World Cup !  ????

The Public Sector Anti Corruption Commission (PACC) and the military are currently launching extensive investigation into irregularities and corruption involving the 600 million baht budget allocated for the building of futsal courts in 350 schools in 17 provinces, mostly in the Northeast, following complaints that they wore out very quickly and were substandard.

funny  at least it got a smile as someone said Thailand does understand corruption, their only problem is they've got this one completely wrong as the bribes have to go thr other way round, a concept they won't be able to deal with ????

Better start building the stadiums now.

Anutin is up for another project!

April fools day has come early. It will never happen even if they cohost with every ASEAN country, and besides that it is the ONLY way Thailand's men's team would ever get to play at a world cup. They just aren't good enough.

And besides all this, Thais don't have a firm reputation in organizing or abiding by any "international" standard.

They might truly embarrass themselves if they attempted to pull this off.

They shouldn't bother.
