Entertainment venues in 41 provinces, including Bangkok, will be ordered to close for 14 days in a bid to prevent further spread of COVID-19, according to Thailand’s Center for Covid-19 Situation Administration (CCSA) spokesperson Dr Taweesin Visanuyothin.

The proposal is expected to be signed off by the Prime Minister as early as tomorrow (Friday).

Daily News reported the proposal includes shutting  down all pubs, bars, karaokes and massage parlours for 14 days in 41 provinces.

It is not known if restaurants will be included in the closure order.

The 41 provinces include:

1. Bangkok 2. Pathum Thani 3. Nonthaburi 4. Nakhon Pathom 5. Samut Prakan 6. Samut Songkhram 7. Samut Sakhon 8. Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya 9. Saraburi 10. Lopburi 11. Nakhon Nayok 12. Chonburi 13. Rayong 14. Chanthaburi 15. Prachin Buri 16. Chachoengsao 17. Sa Kaeo 18. Suphanburi 19. Kanchanaburi 20. Ratchaburi 21. Prachuap Khiri Khan 22. Phetchaburi 23. Ranong 24. Chumphon 25. Nakhon Si Thammarat 26. Phuket 27. Surat Thani 28. Songkhla 29. Yala 30. Narathiwat 31. Nakhon Ratchasima 32. Khon Kaen 33. Chaiyaphum 34. Udon Thani 35. Buriram 36. Loei 37. Chiang Rai 40. Tak and 41. Phetchabun

At the time of posting there are no restrictions on domestic travel in Thailand, with the Prime Minister reiterating that there are no plans to enforce a national lockdown.

The news comes after Thailand on Wednesday reported its first case of the more contagious UK strain of the virus.

Earlier on Thursday, provincial health officials in Phuket and Prachuap Khiri Khan ordered all bars to close for 10 and 4 days, respectively.

At Thursday's daily COVID-19 briefing, the CCSA reported  405 new COVID-19 cases.

With the reported cases now in Chiang Mai, I do not understand why Chiang Mai is not on this list yet.

Thought Mr. Big said he was not going to do this yesterday ! And then as Scritti Politti said 'Boom, there she was'.  If the yo-yoing starts at the top, there truly is no hope for this country in a pandemic.

Today i am going to arrange with massage clinic and pay in advance for 20h, so i will have preferencial treatment and negotiated price.

if the same therapist works on me and on my wife for many hours daily, she daesnt have time for anybody else. Risk is small.

that was also the  case with massage shops after xmass restrictions, just a matter of knowing them earlier

Well, it worked last year, we've been safer because of it.  But why allow tourists in while doing this?

al least they've a little reason, some, Phetchabun for example, are on the list while having no cases, or at least non I know of except rumors.

How do you define pub? Or is that the Thai translation for drinking parlour?

Many pubs serve respectable food and draught beer. Well, the latter seems to be banned anyway. But what about the food? They want to drive more people into bankruptcy and suicide?

Just because a few hi so in Thonglor had to joke with the virus

In control my a.r.s.e. Wife and nephew called to go to vaccination centre at Saphan Hin in Phuket Town today at different times. Nephew's employer now advising not to go as they are recording Covid-19 cases at the vaccination centre! Apparently, these have been recorded since April 2nd, yet nothing has been mentioned. What a cluster <deleted>.

It does not matter if Chiang Mai is on the list or not. Chiang Mai can act independantly and do what it wants as it has done in the past. If the police have orders to close bars then they will.

They left out two provinces (38 and 39). Maybe Chiang Mai is one of those....

The question being asked everywhere on social media it seems, is which members of the highest strata of Thai society have the ability to travel freely without quarantine? Krystal pub is very much the haunt of these people.  We have cabinet ministers too refusing to disclose their movements in the last week or two.

Close them but still let possibly infected travel all over the country?

Some have pub/bar licenses and some have restaurant licences.

Perhaps the Police go by that.

And some bars/pubs have restaurant licenses too - especially since they had to close last time and restaurants could stay open.

Yes of course it worked last year. Day after day after day of Zero cases.

The reason why, not a single test was being done.

Oh look at us, the best in the world, we have no covid cases, we keep dirty farang out.

lol. Pathetic

What a joke. Been thousands and thousands of cases in Thailand from Day 1.

Sorry guys but just had a look at the list on the Daily News...the missing 2 .....No 38 is Chiang Mai...while 39 Lampang..????

The <deleted> is about to hit the fan big time!

Expect national lockdown measures to be in place after songkran through summer.

I'm simply amazed that they're allowing the Songkran travel to go ahead. One report reckons that restrictions this Songkran will be ten times softer than they were last year, and yet the outbreak appears to be at least five times as bad now. Wrong way to go, Mr. P!

In the linked post in the Daily News, Chiang Mai is number 37 on list of provinces. So just a translation error

You beat me to it. In another news agency we cannot mention it has CM and Lamphun. So I would expect a total lockdown on even selling alcohol. The sad thing is my inconsiderate Thai neighbors will be in their back part of the house which is totally open creating absurd noise pollution with 6-12 of their friends thinking that all is ok as they are not seen. Maybe I will just call the police this time.
