PHUKET: Vaccinations at all four remote-site ‘vaccination centres’ have been halted, with vaccinations to continue only at the Indoor Sports Stadium at Saphan Hin.

The news was announced by Phuket Vice Governor Piyapong Choowong last night (Apr 9), and comes as officials now recognise the number of people in Phuket infected with COVID-19 has risen to 26.

The number of people infected had grown from zero to 26 in just the past seven days, V/Gov Piyapong noted, adding that the mass parties held in Phuket last weekend were responsible for most, if not all, new cases.

The 26 new cases bring the number of people in Phuket confirmed as infected with COVID-19 since Dec 1 to 29, he added.

The move to close the remote vaccination centres that were set up at Phuket International Airport, Jungceylon shopping mall in Patong,.Angsana Laguna Phuket resort in Cherng Talay and Phuket Orchid Resort and Spa in Karon were to prevent any further spread of the virus, V/Gov Piyapong explained.

If this is the standard of thinking then how are they ever going to vaccinate enough people? How will funnelling everyone to a single location help prevent the spread of the virus?

If anything they should open more, smaller centres and practice social distancing, something I am reliably informed was not being done at the Phuket Orchid.

There is no appointment system and very little social distancing at Sapan Hin with 1000's of people inside the stadium waiting for their turn to be vaccinated. There were people testing positive there on April 2nd.  No one should be expected to put themselves at risk when seeking a vaccination.

Brainless. Absolutely brainless. The more sites open, the more vaccinations, the lesser reduction of deaths and more economic destruction. People are more likely to get vaccinated if they do not have to travel far.

Though I suspect they closed them due to having not enough vaccines for more than one site

And are the owners or managers of these places going to jail like the two managers in Bkk ?

I'll assume each community has its own government clinic, like here in Kamala. Why aren't they doing it? A staff of six could do 100s a day.

"We're vaccinating against Covid".

Some people are getting Covid.

"OK, let's close vaccination centres and make people travel further".

Thailand.  ????

Couldn't see that coming... how blind some people must be.

Or just blind to safety when looking at profit.

Depends on who they are.

The four remote vaccine sites have probably been closed to save on Vaccine.

Vaccines will be then available in other more needy places (EG Thong Lor ).

When there are so few doses available Nationally, they have to try and prioritize who gets the Vaccine and who doesnt.

Probably realizing that the Phuket Sandbox idea will be blown out of the water now, then why not vaccinate the Hi-So,s.

That would be to easy. Common sense is not their strength.

It's a possibility

They are closing vaccination sites due to fear of spreading Covid.  What?
What planet do these people live on.

Wonder what impact this will have on the 7 day quarantine plan that was suppose to start in July??

Correct. Hardly surprising given the complete cluster f.c.k. at Saphan Hin, Phuket's main vaccination centre:

Jeez.  What a horrible way to do this.  I'm blown away at their ineptitude.
