Officers from the Crime Suppression Division yesterday arrested a 42 year old Thai woman who is the owner of an import/export company.

Punnattha Pongbupphaphasiri was named in a Chaing Mai warrant  issued on 19th March for check fraud and another for fraud.

She was arrested in Soi Pridiphanomyong 46 in the Klong Tan area of Bangkok.

Daily News reported that the suspect was having cash flow problems during the pandemic so she set up a bogus scheme among her friends and close associates to buy and sell land title deeds promising big returns.

The more than one million baht she got she did not use to buy "chanote" but used it for her own needs.

Victims complained to her but she just gave lies and excuses, it was claimed.

She further claimed that her company was doing official business with a Thai embassy abroad to gain investors' confidence.

She then disappeared.

She was taken back to Chiang Mai after admitting her crime blaming the pandemic for interrupting her cash flow.

Clearly a misunderstanding and it will be resolved and I'm sure some sort of compensation for wasting the DSI officers time can be negotiated also. ????

Oh, I'm having money problems - what shall I do?

Answer - Try ripping off your 'friends and close associates' for a million +.

What could possibly go wrong?

Bless, so she screwed her friends and associates for cash to help her with her dire needs.

I better not.

Unfortunately the existing poverty will without question worsen because of the effect of the pandemic, and crime will increase.

Not necessarily on the scale of this woman but when you and your family need to eat people will go to any lengths to provide for them.

Maybe the big boss could sell a submarine and provide a few food banks for the countrymen he cares so much for?

Is it relevant that she is a woman ?

Thais never lie, at most they will violate the truth a bit.  ????

They can lie better than men.
