Five policemen at the Khanom station in Nakhon Sri Thammarat in southern Thailand have been ordered to inactive posts while an investigative  committee has been set up.

This followed a raid at a beauty salon in the area by district chief Jirarot Samdaeng and DOPA (department of provincial administration) officials last Thursday.

Twelve people were arrested for playing the card game rummy.

The salon was a front for the gambling activity behind.

The transfer order was issued by provincial police chief Pol Maj-Gen Thammanoon Prayeunyong on Saturday, reported Thai Rath

Knaves and queens , a full house of Joy, isn't about time many things were legalized cutting out the gangs , corruption and payoffs.

Why are cops always transferred to inactive posts.

As this is against the law, they should be dismissed and prosecuted, but hey ho this is Thailand.

Well my friend, that suppose to the right law in Thailand. If not they will all implicated the higher up.

If you were a lawyer, you will know that subordinate do wrong is partly higher up fault.

They should be dismissed from the civil service and lose any future benefits and pension.

Notice how they are always 'moved to an inactive post' This indicates that they are so lazy they have to be picked up and transported. ????

I agree if found guilty, they are just transferred out for the investigation. But like you probably suspect not much happens after that.

It's just a move while the investigation finds nothing and then they are moved back to active duty somewhere.

Maybe this inactive posting could be a too big burden just for one person.

I advocate to split the Ministry of Inactive Posts into two parts; Ministry of First Inactive Postings" and "Ministry of Posting Reinactivation" ........

What a joke, in any other normal country suspension would result in re-installation or dismissal and facing the music of the existing laws. Poor helpers on coconut farms are fined THB 50'000 for stealing a few coconuts (which is wrong too) and the RTP keeps filling emptying rows of the Ministry of Inactive Posting ........
