Then I just broke the rule this weekend. Good thing our pool is hidden from sight. I love to see what is allowed people wise as i got people coming to my home for gym sessions too. (2 friends)

Currently with 98% of covid cases in Thailand being the highly contagious UK variant would it be too much to ask that these self entitled morons follow the rules like everyone else.

I was in a similar position on Sunday and actually in the same area as this. My daughter had a sleepover at a friends villa on Saturday night after being invited from a school friend. Total of 3 girls each 13 years old.

 

On Sunday myself and another set of parents went to pick them up at 3pm. While waiting for them to finish swimming and get ready we sat around a table by the pool. The Russian couple who owned the villa were drinking some vodka as it was Russia's national holiday (Victory Day), I and the parents of the other girl who were Japanese had a coffee while waiting.

 

Not exactly an offense.

I just wonder what the real rules are, i get it parties with loads of people and alcohol. But how many are allowed should be clear. I thought the 20 was for everyone not just registered events.

Now I am also confused as to what the rules are (I am in Phuket). Does anybody have a formal document indicating such? We abide by the rules when outside and understand about not holding large party gatherings, as intimated above but I would really appreciate a rules update. 

 

We have 6 or 7, albeit Thais, come to our house almost daily for a formal business meeting. Arrive and leave masked up and they are sure it is ok under local Covid rules. There is the inevitable short social aspect to the meeting before finishing.

Never heard that announcement, my guess the police were called by a disgruntled neighbour who probably had an imagined loss of face in the past and saw his chance at revenge, all pure speculation on my part obviously.

There is quite the double standard on display here. I expect that these people are in a tight social bubble and not mingling with others.  Looks like a number of old folks, so I expect that they would have an interest in staying safe.  Maybe the the Thai police should crack down on the Thai operated brothels, card rooms and clandestine bars , rather than harassing low risk pensioners.

The rule patterns are chaotic as the immigration rules. There are 76 provinces having their own rules, with their ways of propagating the rule news to the masses. There is no unified approach and is even hard for the Thais to figure out the rules.

Some provinces probably publish the rules in the Web somewhere but probably not in English, and it is hard to search Google in Thai unless you are fluent in it.

I rely mainly to my gf for any news, and she relies on Facebook and word of mouth ????

There appears to be rules to ban social gatherings of more than 2 people which are not from the same family, Australia had similar rules in the previous lockdowns. I don't think it applies to business meetings. The rules seems generally not enforced unless someone dobs you in. 

A friend has been to two funerals in the last week. Yesterday there were over 100 cars for another funeral at a big temple. The place was packed, with police directing traffic. This is only the cremation however, hopefully they are not getting too many people for the 3 day farewell. Gambling (hi-lo) is common at funerals here.

 

Locals feel obliged to attend if it's a puyai's funeral. It's difficult to claim there's a lock down when police are directing traffic.

 

Everyday I see groups of half a dozen or so Thais drinking out the front of their houses or down by the river.

A team of police from the Choeng Thale station headed by Pol Col Peerachat Pombunmee, the Klang district chief Suwit Suriyawong and a local kamnan and phoo yai ban descended on a pool villa on Sunday evening. 

 

More people in this group than at the 'party' .....!

He isnt a Brit & the guy has lived here for over 10 years, as have the others in the picture! none present have left Thailand in at least 12 months, these are facts.

If you are interested, there was a video of the raid 'in progress' on The Taiger youtube channel yesterday.  It was all quite pathetic looking honestly. The police shouting "you party you party you party" endlessly, confused people milling about. There was no music playing, the police found a cooler with wine and beer in it and triumphantly exclaimed "you party" again. The loudest thing in the video was the police- there was no music playing at all.

 

 It looked like the person doing the filming wasn't a police officer, maybe some local do-gooder who snitched on them.
