PHUKET: Phuket officials have again repeated that registration is open for foreigners to receive a state-provided COVID-19 vaccination while remaining silent on previous promises that foreigners would be vaccinated in June and that the vaccine to be used will be AstraZeneca only.

During a live broadcast online this morning (June 2), as with the announcement yesterday, Phuket Governor Narong Woonciew again delegated the presentation of the announcement to Pracha Asawathira, a PhD academic with the Ministry of Digital Economy and Society (M-DES) involved in the operation of the vaccination registration web portal ‘Phuket Must Win’ (www.ภูเก็ตต้องชนะ.com).

“Right now, 28,286 foreigners have registered to get vaccinated. On June 3-5, vaccines will be provided to foreigners who have work permits,” Mr Pracha said.

hilarious if it wasn't so serious

Daily complaints coming from whoever rights these stories for the Phuket News.

Loaded headlines like "farangs get leftovers" and the one above.

He seems to have a great sense of entitlement and has the belief he should be looked after before Thai citizens, while ignoring the fact that Phuket is doing the best job of all the provinces, especially since the English B117 virus arrived.

Classic example of someone acting like a spoilt child who needs to pull his head in, wait his turn, harden up and is a prime candidate for some attitude adjustment.

Does he have covid? Have any of his family or friends contracted covid on Phuket? They are working vaccinating the population in a sensible matter according to risk. If he doesn't like it he should go back to his own covid ravaged country.

Proof in the pudding, registrations not working through www.ภูเก็ตต้องชนะ.com I've tried for the last two days and today.

The vaccine roll out for the general Thai population here has been chaotic, the first rounds were a complete free for all, no regards for at risk groups you just had to turn up on the day, no booking needed and of course leaving out all the over 60's as it was with Sinovac.

Anyone who ever considers retire to Thailand (Phuket) in the future should bear this in mind.

If you're old and / or retired - no vaccine for you.

Don't retire in Thailand is the clear message because you're on your own and nobody cares.

Do keep up, it's now called the "Alpha" virus ....

Phuket the sandbox example for tourism for Thailand.. This is very good for the people who had the intention to come.. leftovers, not for retirees, not promised vaccines.. and all other kind of rules to feel you welcome

Ok

The UK Alpha B117 virus if this keeps the PC crowd happy.

Yet again mixed messages....

“The opening for vaccination time booking will be open at 9am. Only HR [human resources] of each company can make the booking for foreigners,” he added.

“The booking system will open for two rounds. The first round is opening at 9am for businesses in the tourism industry and education, and the second round will be at 2pm for businesses in other industries,” Mr Pracha said just after 7am today.

“The documents needed to be presented to get injected are your passport, visa and your real work permit [sic]. We will have officers from Phuket Immigration and the Phuket Provincial Employment Office check the documents at the vaccination centres,” he added.

That is the most needlessly complicated procedure I could possibly imagine.

In other words, burmese.
