Thailand reports 3,886 new COVID-19 cases, 39 new deaths

Featured Replies

To get to the bottom of this third surge, and despite all the contact tracing, etc, we are never told what percentage of the infected are aliens (or Thais) who have snuck in (without quarantine).

Anyway not really any need to rant as it takes two tests to confirm a case. Hence why males having babies is kept at a minimum ????

Correct, they need the morning after pill of see a gynecologist to have that rear end lobotomy

Of the 50 active clusters in Bangkok, 17 were found in worker camps, 14 around markets & shopping centres, 10 in crowded communities & residential areas, six at businesses & factories, two at care homes and one at an embassy.

The question is, do the restrictions do anything for infections? Infections happen at home or at the workplace. Masks and social distancing doesn't work for an airborne virus. There is absolutely no correlation. People walking around in nature with masks on. Makes absolutely no sense at all.

The virus kills one in 50,000 people under 50. Vaccinate the vulnerable, and let us get on with our lives.

You’ll get no argument from me on the concept of vaccinate and then move on. It’s the way it pretty much HAS to be. There’s no other end game in the frame.

on restrictions, well overall it’s a concept that most countries have used to varying degrees. And with varying levels of compliance. Quite a wide range of views on their effectiveness, probably no need to rehash the arguments for and against, eh?

"Simple common sense" might indicate Covid. It might also indicate other coronaviruses such as influenza, a severe cold, pneumonia, pleurisy, emphysema,  or a whole host of other pulmonary diseases.

A PCR-test set over >35 cycles will record all of these diseases (plus long-dormant particles from any number of viruses you may have contracted in the past).

See pages "Limitations" 39-40 of the attached file from the CDC:

Common sense is not as common as previously thought.

Nope.

You have introduced the standard CDC guidance in order to create doubt about RT-PCR tests.

That's like a Flat Earther introducing a GPS information pamphlet as proof the Earth is flat.

PCR Tests have a high degree of reliability. Not perfect, but very good. Of course, RT-PCR tests cannot detect other diseases, so it cannot rule out syphilis or whatever else the patient might have.

PCR Tests detect the Covid-19 virus specifically. The test does not respond to the cold virus, or other diseases. You are simply spreading misinformation now.

You appear to have missed the point I was making about logic not applying to business closures rather the closures being focused mainly on the restriction of alcohol. Never mind.

FYI I am off the drink at the moment and working out daily, making the absolute best of the situation while the opportunity is there.

Then something good came from it. For me i stopped working out when gyms closed. Now my home gym has moved to new place so working out too. Just keep it up when bars open up again.

I am still amazed at people who don't seem to get that alcohol is a drug a social lubricant that makes people ignore rules and social distancing. Plus its non essential (restaurants / supermarkets ect are essential).

Sure someone taking one beer is not a problem but most people do get drunk or tipsy whatever when that happens all caution and sense goes out of the window. That is normal that is the effect of being drunk / high or whatever. It strange that people still deny this.

Also bars were closed in most countries as they all understand that alcohol and rules don't mix. Its hard to enforce rules on drunk people wanting to have fun. Its just impossible.

But like everyone I want things to go back to normal

Death by drowning is death by drowning be it water or vomit. Lungs fill with a liquid and you die. If you are lucky and don't die you might end up getting pneumonia or another type of lung infection. One of the more common conditions that causes fluid in the lungs is pulmonary edema. Left untreated it can result in the person drowning in their own fluids.

Getting back to the point, a diagnosis of pneumonia does not necessarily mean that a fatality died of influenza.

Two new COVID-19 clusters found in Bangkok construction worker housing as 3,886 new infections are recorded in Thailand

Two new clusters of COVID-19 infections have been found in Bangkok, as 3,886 new infections and 39 more deaths were recorded today (Thursday) in Thailand.

On Wednesday, Dr. Apisamai Srirangsan, CCSA assistant spokesperson, said that a new infection cluster had been found ata shopping mall in the Lat Phrao area, but did not name the mall. This prompted Central Plaza, Union Mall and Imperial World, all located on Lat Phrao and adjacent roads, to issue denials that they are the unnamed mall.

Today, however, CCSA Spokesman Dr. Taweesin Visanuyothin said that they will no longer withhold names of areas or venues with infection clusters, to avoid public confusion, adding that the mall mentioned by Dr. Apisamai is actually HomePro Ekamai-Ramintra, located on Pradit Manutham Road in Lat Phrao district.

I suppose this might open the flood gates to claims. Such a payment would never be made in many countries for just that reason.

reading the article, it seems that the basis for payment was that he was the sole breadwinner for his family. A hard luck story for sure, but not really anything to do with the vaccine.

perhaps the intent of the payment, apart from helping the deceased’s family financially, was to give confidence to Thai people to get vaccinated because their family will be cared for financially if anything goes wrong.

I can see the logic, but it feels like an erroneous admission that the vaccine is flawed. I’m not sure that’s a good thing in the long run.

anyway, it’s done and the family no doubt feel better. I hope they use the money wisely.

Not only does it avoid confusion, it’s informative and provides motivation for malls to make sure that they follow strict protocols to avoid Covid infections, that might effect their business.

singapore has been VERY detailed about locations of infections from the very start and I think it’s a good thing to do.

Indeed. Markets are unhygienic at the best of times really. People close together, prodding and poking food that they don’t buy, but eventually someone else does.

some of the new ones are much better with wider aisles etc, but the behavior of the patrons doesn’t change much ????
