The Center for Covid-19 Situation Administration (CCSA) is planning to consider a full opening of restaurants in Bangkok if officially proposed by the Public Health Ministry at a general meeting this Friday, the CCSA operations director revealed to the press today, June 15th.

General Natthapon Nakpanich, secretary-general of the National Security Council (NSC) and operations director of the CCSA, stated that the CCSA is ready to consider the full opening of all dine-in operations. However, the idea must be proposed by the Ministry of Public Health as the CCSA does not have the authority to propose the idea for committee consideration.

The proposal may be introduced at the big CCSA meeting by the Ministry of Public Health this Friday, June 18th, according to the operations director.

Glad that this is something that is being considered. It could  potentially help a lot of people in demographics that are at low risk from the virus, and can be done while the vaccine rollout is ongoing. I hope it goes ahead.

Does that include alcohol with meals?

The real problem isn't alcohol, but that the restaurants already don't enforce social distancing. And probably cannot be expected to, in order not to alienate their (few-ish) patrons.

I just walked past a popular coffee shop in Bangkok. They have spaced out their tables nicely and removed some chairs from each table. Great. But there was a group of five ladies sitting around one table, who looked like holding a business meeting brunch, without wearing masks obviously. That's the kind of thing I'm seeing all the time, and it clearly shouldn't be allowed.

If you're going to open everything up, you may as well do it for all vaccinated foreigners too - we vaccinated foreigners are safer than Thais are currently

Safer than what ?

They should also start opening up the nightlife, certain people associated with this "government" need to get their entertainment from somewhere. ????????????????????????????????????????????

And the only way to prevent it is by keeping dine-in restaurant CLOSED until the great majority are vaccinated. Suck it up, order take out or delivery, & tip the staff generously. What, you have got beer & wine at home?!

Any more news about this?  I have just read that vaccinated tourists will no longer need to quarantine, so opening up restaurants properly (and hopefully bars) will be a huge boost to the economy and people's state of mind!
