‘HUG THAIS’ tourist offers set for July launch in Phuket as top island reopens

Featured Replies

"The ‘HUG THAIS’ project is expected to help generate an estimated of over 100 billion Baht to the Thai economy within the next six months."

They mean 100 baht right? The billion was a typo?

Or it could be just comedy? The choice of "Hug" as a name during a pandemic surely is for laughs only

As lomg as they keep the bars closed... no hugs.

That is sooo last millennium.

The modern day lady of the night now uses a smart phone to set up liaisons.

No, I'm not speaking from experience, but from several articles that I read.

100 billion baht? Even 100 billion satang is an impossible target - by a factor of about a billion.

And you even have to have to display what colour you are !!

Thais do not hug! This is the most  inappropriate slogan ever as well as contravening social distancing! Wai Thais would be closer to the mark but it implies correctly that Thailands vaccination effort is wofully inadequate.

Indeed, some guys may remember Monty Python and the ministry of silly walks?

Can just picture Pinnochio and Anutin doing this when the rug is finally pulled from underneath them.

how does "Ministry of Silly TALKS" translate into Thai?

They do know the meaning of the word hug, right? And they do know there is a pandemic going on, right? And they do know the medical community has been banging on about social distancing, right?

"Thais do not hug!..."

I've been married to a Thai for nearly 43 years.  Had a couple hugs per year. More now that I'm the old man of the family at 67.  (Probably because I have some money.)

Hug Thais? Does this mean they are planning to reopen the massage shops soon?
