Anyway, I live in Bangkok and was thinking of coming to Pattaya for a few days.   Is that still possible?  is some kind of registration needed? Is the bus from Ekamai running?   Thanks for any info!  (I had my first jab of AstroZeneca two weeks ago, which I think means I can go to Phuket on 1 July.)

 

I was just looking at Booking.com for a room at The Base in Pattaya tomorrow and one of the places had this warning:  "In accordance with government guidelines to minimise transmission of the Coronavirus (COVID-19), this property can only accept bookings from essential workers/permitted travellers, during dates where such guidelines exist. Reasonable evidence must be provided on arrival. If it isn't provided, your booking will be cancelled on arrival."

Are you an essential worker or permitted traveller? Answer the question and make your own mind up.

You can travel and plenty do, especially at weekend. Many hotels are open but many condos are not taking short term guests. Hard Rock, MYTT, A-One are among those open.

There are many people in Pattaya fearful of visitors from Bangkok because they see them as bringing Covid to the city.

I traveled to Pattaya from Bangkok this morning and it was same as usual. Buses from Ekamai run every hour. No restrictions or checkpoints.

Thanks.  Was the bus full?  Are they sitting only one person per two seats?  

 

 

There are currently no restrictions, and hopefully it will stay that way.  And I believe restaurants are open in Pattaya, unlike Bangkok.

If it's required I guess we'll have to. But currently I don't think it is. People travel between Bangkok and Chonburi every day.

Beach front area, Central mall was very busy this weekend with Bangkokians, and that was before the new orders came into effect, so yes we can expect huge droves of Bangkokians during the weekends now (as long as Chonburi stays open).

Bus was half full so everybody had their own seat.

It has been the case for about a month, since the beaches  and restaurants re-opened.

I go to the beach and it is easy enough to stay away from other people. The alternative is just stay in my condo all day which would drive me nuts. Everyone has a personal choice as to how they look after themselves until the General says otherwise.

Sorry, but life has to go on.  We will wear masks and social-distance as much as possible, but after nearly 3 months of being "locked down" in our condo doing online learning, we need a break.  There are just as likely to be superspreaders in Pattaya.

I was also in Pattaya, no problems. Restaurants are open. Bring your own bar. I was in a restaurant that served wine quite openly.

Just get a comfortable sedan taxi.  Probably 1200.00 baht door to door.  They have junk cars going for 900 tolls not included.

Yes. A receipt which gives the date of the first jab, which vaccine it was, and the appointment for the second jab.

Absolutely worth the money and avoiding the crowds/contacts and hassle in Bangkok.
