As many as 110 bottles of Sinovac COVID-19 vaccine have been found to contain a lump of transparent gel, which did not go away after being shaken. It is believed to be caused by the vaccine being stored at an inappropriate temperature, according to Thailand’s Food and Drug Administration (TFDA).

The bottles in question were found at some vaccination sites and have been returned to the TFDA, which has called for the suspension of the administration of any bottles of Sinovac’s CoronaVac vaccine which are found to contain lumps and notification of such discoveries.

The TFDA has sent a letter, dated yesterday (Monday), informing all provincial health offices and hospitals across the country, administering Sinovac vaccine, to beware of the C202105079 batch, produced on May 10th and which expires on November 9th, and that it may contain a gel-like substance.

555 Sinovac keeps giving....

  • Popular Post

this batch was probably produced before the virus was released.

it's just old stock.

Oh dear... excrement.

Another damned crop failure.

The Chinese vaccines don't need the sub-arctic controlled temperature chain of the other, more desirable but totally unobtainable vaccines.

That lot was used in vaccination of VIPs last week.

No, I won't publish any details why I know that.

how many bottles are in the batch?

What if all are Jelly?

Stored at inappropriate temperatures? Or Chinese expectoration?

  • Popular Post

Well Sinovac got the empty bottles cheap from an artificial insemination center in Beijing.

Jesus Christ

if that got injected into the bloodstream it would very likely act like a clot

So how many of the vaccines have in reality been stored at an inappropriate temperature, and rendered useless, that didn't turn into gel yet.

Very unlikely that it were just 100 vials, but more likely a complete delivery

Either the Chinese vaccine was substandard, or Thai health officials don't know what a thermometer is.

As the Thais are going to be afraid of pointing the finger at their friends, and no boffin is going to hold their hand up, the cleaners and receptionists better get ready to accept the blame

Not the sinovac's fault in this case, most [if not all] of the available vaccines need to be stored at precise temperatures.

Things will go wrong with them all if this is not done-at least here there is a visual clue all is not well in this regard.

An off topic troll post has been removed

And I thought Sinovac was one of the easier ones to store!

How are they going to get on with Pfizer and the like?

They don't know what a real thermometer is.

Go to any supermarket in Thailand, and you will often notice complete pallets of frozen food stored in front of the freezers, until they are completely tawed, before they get loaded in the freezer.

That is what you see, what you don't see is how many times the same food as been tawed between the factory where they were produced and the freezer in your supermarket.

Why you think it is different in this case?

Is it an optical illusion that the top of the vial in the focused segment of the picture looks a bit skewed and the top of the contents is sitting at an angle ? Or is that the jelly blob?

Whatever is the situation it is sad that such a presentation to accompany the news is going to promote more fear and distrust .

That’s my concern.

it’s not a vaccine issue, it’s a delivery issue. And if it can happen to sinovac, it can happen to AZ. All of which is very worrying when it’s due to negligence from the worlds 5th best rated healthcare system……allegedly.

seriously, this worries me more than all the theoretical talk of vaccine efficacy against this or that strain. A straight forward bungling at point of delivery is far more close to home.

It is believed?

How do they know its because of inappropriate temperature storing, it could just as well be poor manufacture in China.

mRNA vaccines are the most likely to spoil, but even conventional vaccines need to be stored properly.

Ah but it did not....between Sinovac and locally produced AZ, which might be more likely to be spoke ill of, just say, to explain failures of vaccine supply, or progress in getting inoculations done?

This will not help the reputation of this brand. But I expect it will bounce back.

Might just be the batch they donated to Thailand.

and the next news will be vaccine producers changing the vials from transparent to opaque

These vaccines are administered intermusculary, not intervenously, so it would not enter the bloodstream directly, and would not present the problem you describe.
