Still no sign of flattening the curve.    Yet, they did nothing to prevent the mass migration of workers from the construction sites, after it was announced they would be closed. Until now.

I've accepted that not many here or in the government care much about education!

Again a salesman type pitch regarding schools. Thinking you would be hard pressed to find one expert that would support opening schools in Bangkok right now.

Doesn't stop you from slipping in ....."not many here in government care much about education"

Time to run out of tests.

PPE said to be running thin.

Should be fun for the sandboxers, who are vaccinated.

How can you POSSIBLY think that banning dine-in eating won't make a difference?

This is a highly contagious virus that spreads through the air and doesn't need extended periods of time to infect.

Restaurants, especially in Thailand, are extremely close quarters with poor ventilation and one asymptomatic person eating there (or server) could very easily infect every person in there.

Seriously, what's your logic behind thinking that dining in a restaurant won't be an issue for spreading the virus?

Many "dine-in" restaurants are outside and eating there is still banned, nor can people eat at Street food stalls.  Why not close public transport, shopping malls and markets? Surely there is just as much chance of transmission there? I could understand a complete lockdown but this illogical arbitrary policy is nonsense.

As many of us have been saying for months, if they ramped up their testing nationwide, they'd find they have a multiple of these cases per day. 12K, 18K, who knows?

Their testing is defective. If they were smart, they'd pour significant resources into a national PREMPTIVE TESTING drive.

Alas, they are not smart.

A friend of mine lives in Turkey They are getting similar daily numbers to us here only difference they are testing vasts amounts of people (100s of 1000s) daily

It has occurred to me that maybe this government simply doesn’t care about their response to or handling of this pandemic?

They have no one to answer to, no accountability and if they completely mess it up then so what? What is anyone going to do about it? You cant vote them out and you can’t displace them by force.

They have absolutely nothing to lose and if becomes too hard (which it has) then they can just turn their backs on it and get back to the important stuff like raiding the coffers.

Terrible state of affairs really especially given how recently they stole power and the way they went about doing it and enforcing it.

I suspect they simply don’t care.

Not "everything", although I don't think banning dine-in eating will make much difference. I've accepted that not many here or in the government care much about education!

I care about educating my child but I also worry that my kid gets infected at school and brings it home. As previously stated Kalasin opened schools on the 14th of June and closed them yesterday. 7 infections found in one school. Re-openning is said to be the 13th of this month but I doubt it.

I asked you very simple question yesterday.

It was something like "should schools open now in Bangkok. Yes or No"?

Sure enough your answer was side step.

So again.....Should the government open schools in Bangkok now? Yes or No

Simple question.

So ignoring outdoor eating for a moment, are you saying that restaurants should allow indoor dining?

And prior to the Delta variant taking over, I 100% agreed that outdoor eating should've been allowed (as long as tables were spread out).  It's a whole new ballgame now and unfortunately outdoor dining should be closed as well.

Obviously shopping malls should be closed, and I don't think anyone else disagrees with that.  Regarding public transportation, unfortunately that can't be shut down as there are far too many people who rely on it. However, if the government enacts a TRUE lockdown (as so many of us have been striving for, which you of course had been opposed to), then the need for using becomes so small that it's not really an issue.

That being said, people on the trains are masked.  When you're eating, inside or out, you're not masked

they would have to ramp up testing to see numbers like that, they do not have the capacity - I believe 20k tests a day is it

Pattaya News gives a good coverage and timelines everyday. Markets ,workplaces in Sattahip,Sri Racha and  Thai restraunts seem to be main focus.

Sattahip and Sri Racha are counted separately from Pattaya/Banglamung. Pattaya news doesn't go into detail usually about where the Pattaya/Banglamung cases/clusters are being found.

You may well be right that they (decision makers) simply don't care.  Or perhaps they're under tremendous pressure to get the economy going somehow from elite business-owners who are already fully vaccinated and don't understand or care about the hurdles involved.

The economy won't recover in earnest until the population feels safe, i.e., the spread is controlled or halted.  Preventing the health care system from being overwhelmed is paramount in the short-term. Getting everyone vaccinated with effective vaccines must happen for long-term recovery.

You may find that elite business is not affected by lockdowns, it are the small businesses that are affected.

The other day I read a report on Yahoo finance, and there was said the same. Big businesses had done a roaring trade during the corona lockdowns in the US, while smaller businesses had struggled to keep their head above water, and many had gone under.

Yet, they did nothing to prevent the mass migration of workers from the construction sites, after it was announced they would be closed. Until now. Too little, way too late.

And they are very late to the game, when it comes to ordering the higher quality vaccines. They are stuck with the Sinojunk. I have spoken to many Thai people who will not take it. They know it is junk, we know it is junk. A true bottom of the barrel choice.

The AZ vaccine is a high quality vaccine, and looks set to be the most widely used

The Sinovac vaccine is ok.

Planning also on opening 700 new stores by December, of course 5 within walking distance of us have closed during the pandemic so far, so they must just be replacing closed shops elsewhere.

What's causing the rise in Bang Lamung/Pattaya?

Is that markets or......

I would like to know that too

mostly from walkins people who are actually ill - so for every one of those how many others have they infected - if Delta or Beta then pretty much everyone they have been close too because both are highly infectious

Where what and when - critical

This is the sort of information people need to know - hiding it is counter productive but no - by keeping a lid on it they think it makes them "not" look bad ............................... it actually makes me very angry

I insulted you saying your replies are from the car salesman manual.

They are much more slippery...straight from Politician's handbook.

AKA Yes Minister handbook.

When confronted with simple question NEVER give a direct answer.

"I thought my view on this was clear"

Not clear to me, however will put your answer down as "Yes, schools should be opened"

See it isn't hard.

NO of course we care about education but even in my country schools were closed. Even now with almost no cases we had a big infection on a school many students and teachers got it. So schools are not safe. I know you want your kid gone so you can do whatever you want.

But given the rising numbers its just pure madness. But i get it your desperate to have your kid gone so you can be free again.
