PHUKET: Vietjet Airlines has issued a statement regarding health authorities issuing a COVID alert over a passenger on a flight from Bangkok to Phuket late last month.

The alert, issued on Wednesday, called for any passengers sitting near one particular passenger on the flight to present themselves for a COVID test at their nearest government hospital.

The flight involved was Vietjet Airlines flight VZ314 on June 25, departing Suvarnabhumi airport in Bangkok at 7:20am and landing in Phuket at 8:40am.

From link - However, the notice refrained from actually confirming that the person who was sitting in the seat marked red had been infected with COVID-19.

So, we testing people on might's , maybes and could be's now ?

It’s normal to test people who may have had contact with an infected person, because they might have caught Covid themselves and could pass it on to others.

the focus on the fact that the urgent announcement didn’t actually state that the passenger had Covid is clearly a red herring. The urgent announcement wasn’t issued for no good reason. it was so obvious the passenger had Covid, that they just didn’t specifically state it.

Or, are you suggesting that tests should only be carried out if a person is known to be positive? Because that would seem to negate the reason for the test.

overall, I can’t really see your point. Maybe I am being dense today.

No intentions of flying anywhere until I am fully vaccinated.

I have no intentions of flying until all restrictions are lifted.

Don't care about COVID, do care about paperwork and spending money on stuff I don't want.

Please read article again.

“This statement is issued in connection with a report made by Phuket Covid-19 Information Centre regarding passengers having been tested positive for COVID-19 on flights VZ314 (Bangkok - Phuket) on 25 June 2021. "

I think this means that people were tested as infected.

Not the first incident. Quick search will show list of several flights with infected passengers.

Government is doing is what other countries do. I think you are too hard on the response, which looks responsible to me.

Just as well, as you won't be allowed to.
