From the link above TimesNowNews Australia:

Scientists say news about the Delta strain should not be disseminated in a sensationalising manner.

The Delta strain is significantly more infectious but it spreads the same way as the original virus. Like the original novel coronavirus, the Delta variant also spreads through ‘fleeting’ encounters and respiratory aerosols.

There is so much scaremongering going on over the 'Delta' variant or the 'Delta Plus' variant of the novel coronavirus contagion that started the COVID-19 pandemic that epidemiologists have begun to warn against the tone and tenor of news dissemination on the issue.

The COVID-19 outbreak in Sydney has caused a global sensation.

Morning Channel 34 news is now doing a story on the extreme transmissibility of the Delta variant and how just in passing another person and being within a few feet of them is enough time for you to be exposed and infected.  This is in line with an Australian review of fleeting exposures.

Ok but there is also a dose response relationship, a fleeting contact transmission is from a small virus quantity. And  those infections can be very mild while producing protective antibodies. https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC7686757/

The government here is just not taking it seriously enough despite warnings from its own health experts, business leaders and academics. The more this is highlighted and shoved squarely in their faces the better

Do you think it will really matter.  Another Academic, a doctor who is part of the CCSA came out today as well to say any news of the Delta variant being found in Phuket is just more fake news.  Putting a spin on everything is what they do best. I hope the public are taking notice as well as the rest of the world.

You're right of course, Thailand is no longer playing the covid elimination game, they have switched to the suppression tactic, which with the delta variant just does not work as we can see here and other countries.

Even the best brands of vaccine have less effectiveness with the delta variant but Sinovac is by far the worse and Thailand with its ambitions to open the country using this vaccine is on a losing path that just leads to further deaths.

I have chosen to hunker down and ride out the coming storm.  I await my second AZ vaccine as well. This is my home and where I live.

I'm hunkering down, still waiting to be able to register.
Local hospital says only Thais for now I'll have to wait for my turn.

While the shortage of published peer-reviewed data makes it hard to evaluate the (Sinovac) vaccine, a few available studies provide a glimpse.

The government of Uruguay released data earlier this month showing CoronaVac reduced COVID-19 infections by 61%, hospitalizations by 92% and deaths by 95%.

Although not peer-reviewed, the study is one of a few that compare CoronaVac with another vaccine.

Today 5916 positive cases

Death 44.

If the infection rate is 11% and the number of cases was 5916 the number of tests was about 53,780.

They would not have done that number.

I realize your not suggesting that.

I wonder how many tests were done.

Being Oz, I follow the news there and they release accurate daily tests numbers.
