Just been told by the wife I need to make an appointment using the land transport office app which is DLT Smart Queue. I downloaded the app onto my phone chose the English language option when it opened but it won’t let you enter your passport number so you can’t proceed to make an appointment. Has anyone else used it and is there a trick to using it?

Had same problem but have a Thai pink ID card which the app accepted my iD number to book appointment. If that didn’t work was going to use my wife’s Thai ID number or make one up to book.  Select passport and nothing happens. Irritating.

Are you serious have you tried 13 zeros?

Think I will use wife’s ID.

Right I got the App to work by putting in a Thai ID number.

I can now make an appointment for a months time.

it tells me I need a Medical certificate issued upto a month before applying.

It also says to be there 30 minutes before your booked time and to wear long pants with grey shoes.

I can’t see myself buying a pair of grey shoes to wear one time I am sure Thai’s are not doing this, someone must be making some kind of joke.

I went to Saraburi DLT for drivers license renewal appointment on Monday and no one was asking anyone to show the app booked appointment upon entering or at anytime.  Computers were down Monday so I went back today with no appointment and same, no one even asked to show booking.

As for attire I wore a shirt with collar, nice shorts and flip flops.  Was in and out quick with renewed license.

Probably like immigration each office has/enforces different requirements.

When I went to renew the Rego on the car they told me to go outside to a booth, no one there in the queue it took about 5 minutes to get a new sticker, very impressed, when I wanted to get a bank statement and letter for immigration it was almost an hour. Thailand hey.

learn the drill. if your passport doesn't work, it's for locals only.

got my second 5-year license 3 months ago at chatuchak DLT. was told that online queue was for Thais only (surprise surprise). expats can just walk in, but only 50 applicants were accepted per day. best to ask your wife to call your local DLT office for specifics.

The secret is "getting in the door."

Use any ID number.

Once in you start from 0 anyway.

With just 4 driving tests & thankfully no videos at present due to Cvid all

complete in less than 2 hours

Never worked for me. After being put off many times by DLT eventually got driving school nearby to sort it. They queued for me in morning and was in and out in an hour and a half

The time I walked to look at smart que  machine  she was   calling me to take my picture.

Get them to show you hot to use it.  EASY!

90% of people in my province can't read or write so they can't use the smart que on their own. But the can sure drive.

I booked through the DLT Smartqueue service by using my GF,s ID card...upon turning up for my appointment at Pattaya DLT I was promptly told....NOT for farang Thai only....went inside took a ticket at the machine...Foreigners only....and waited...and waited.

Just went through this. My gf called the transport office. They said logon with a Thai ID, then edit the info once logged on. We did that and had no problems.

Any updates on this? How to book a time at BKK DLTs now in Feb 2023?

So can I have my wife book a time from DLT Chatuchak for me?

There's no video if you go thru the online app.

Thats the only benifit of the app, there's no appointment system but they'll expect to see QR code with course completion.

Depends where you go.  My wife tried to get me an appointment with the app using my pink card, didn't work. She phoned the DLT and they said all foreigners must make appointment in person. Trotted along to the DLT and just before lunch when we got there, she said can you come back at 2pm, no problem.

Saw the video for the first time, prior to the rebuild Chonburi DLT never had a video room.

There are some on this forum that seem compelled to address a piece of text from a post rather than the context of the post.

If I am not mistaken, distorting posts is a breach of the forum rules.
