Thailand’s Centre for COVID-19 Situation Administration (CCSA) decided today (Friday) to allocate the upcoming 1.5 million doses of donated Pfizer vaccine from the US government to frontline medical workers as a third “booster” shot, and other prioritised groups in selected provinces.

People aged 60 and over, those afflicted with any of seven underlying diseases, foreign diplomats, and expatriates, especially those who are 60 years old and over or have one of the specified diseases, will receive either Pfizer or AstraZeneca donated by the Japanese government in an amount of 1.05 million doses, which was delivered today. The Pfizer vaccine is expected to be delivered later this month.

CCSA assistant spokeswoman Dr. Apisamai Srirangsan said today that, apart from the frontline medics, who will receive just one booster dose of the Pfizer vaccine, the others will receive two doses, administered three weeks apart, adding that the vaccine recipients will be those in Bangkok, Samut Sakhon, Pathum Thani and Nonthaburi, as well as Songkhla, Yala, Pattani and Narathiwat in the south, which are facing infections of the Beta variant.

those 1.05mln of AZ and 1.5mln pfizer is not enough for all the groups listed from a population around 20mln.

It looks like foreigners over 60 and with underlying will have a chance, but not the rest, because there is not effective registration vax program for them.

It doesn't look like walk in for a jab solution will be used, they would have mentioned it now, in above statement. So it's pushing the majority of foreigners into private health care at the end of year/beginning the next year.

Both programs I have registered with were cancelled within 10 days from registering. Shows well, how well planned are their attempts. More like deception, personal data harvesting exercise, so for me no more registering.

I hope for times, when there would be enough for all, so they will use incentives (like some countries already do) to encourage people get vax

isn't this vaccine found to cause a high rate or heart inflammation for this particular age group?

Am I a cynic that feels 750,000 people must then remain vulnerable,  and some may die, because someone screwed up administering an ineffective vaccine, twice, to medical workers. Is the level of protection from these original 2 vaccines so low that we prefer to leave other (plebs) with ZERO in the interim?

Prayut and Anutin you should both be ashamed of yourselves, pack your bags and choose where you're going to exile yourself.

now we see that the Thais are talking about giving their "frontline" workers an Pfizer booster shot when they get the Pfizer even though the US CDC announced loudly that this is not the time for a

booster shot.  If one is needed in the future then they will advise at that time.  Getting the booster

now might not be as effective and will delay others getting their first jabs!  What a bunch of idiots

running things here.  Every day we read another story from another hospital or such that is giving shots including the AZ shot to those over 60 including ex-pats but we only see this when they have already shut down that jabbing process there due to a lack of sufficient vaccines.

That means firstly the junta then police chiefs a few top notch monks then what's left will be distributed to doctors !

Variants will keep mutating and we can expect more contagious variants after Delta. This is causing serious concern around the world. The 2 doses for the medical frontlines here in Thailand were expected to provide sufficient level of protection against the Alpha variant. Delta has changed the equation. Booster shot to “boost” the immune system is not novel. Used for tetanus and diphtheria as examples. Even Pfizer has called for a booster shot as they see protection inadequacy in their 2 shots.

Yes  (it's level of protection is that low)

Indonesia: Lead Sinovac vaccine scientist dies of suspected Covid-19, media say

If you estimate the number of Americans living in Thailand as 25,000, and let’s say we’d all opt for double shots of Pfizer ( not likely)—then they would only need to reserve 3-1/3% (50,000 shots) of the donated Pfizer to cover all Americans here.

And ...'other prioritized groups...'  That would be your politicians, your hisos, your military bigwigs, etc.   Not you or me.

No, it's not. There have been some extremely rare reports of heart inflammation, which have not yet been definitively linked to the vaccine, and occurring at a very low rate which is about the same rate as would normally be found in unvaccinated people.

In Europe, the EMA reported:

145 cases of myocarditis and 138 cases of pericarditis out of 177m doses given

In addition, they pointed out that:

the events are typically mild with individuals usually recovering within a short time with standard treatment and rest

555 Pfizer shareholder meeting was recently  licking their lips over the fact that the "pandemic"

would same as all that came before become Endemic & the future was quite bright for Pfizer shareholders.

Because this "booster" will become the norm & they will continue to sell either directly or thru governments

referencing comments made by Pfizer executives over the summer, asked how the pharmaceutical company still envisioned pursuing "higher pricing" as "we move from a pandemic to an endemic phase,"

Maybe a good stock pick?
