Twitter banned the account of a prominent Thai hospital administrator on Wednesday, although no reason was given for the ban.

 

Dr Suwadee Puntpanich, a director at Thonburi Bamrungmuang Hospital, was a prominent Twitter presence in Thailand with her account noted its criticism of the government’s Covid response and praised for finding hospital beds for hundreds of Covid-19 patients.

 

Suwadee’s regularly tweeted updates about government vaccine policy and had criticized the government for now allowing private hospitals to bring in their own vaccine.

No need to be a genius to figure out who was behind the ban, some people high up there who didn't like the truth to be know...

Why are we surprised?

The biggest reason for Twatter banning people is because they tell the truth.

big tech ruling the world

looks like thai court ordered injunction which was swiftly executed.

Probably it's about the government moderna vaccine deal and 88% mark up on it.

This is but a small harbinger of things to come.  The current junta has been in power for a relatively long time, compared to previous regimes. And the number of years between coups over history is of interest.  COVID can be a convenient thing to invoke for lockdowns, detentions, censorship, etc

Another example of way out of whack Thai defamation "laws".  A person can not say anything negative nor critique anything.  The beginning of a bad future

Her activism has resulted in Troll campaigns mounted by unknown actors and has been the subject of criticism from government officials.

 

Arthit Suriyawongkul, a coordinator for the Thai Netizen Network, told Thai Enquirer that it was not uncommon for government or private groups that support the government to mount mass ‘reporting’ campaigns against prominent voices.

 

“We have never seen this kind of campaigned used on someone with Covid views but in the past there have been campaigns against political oppositions,” he said.

Waiting for the defamation shoe to fall.

But this isn't an 'unpopular alternative view', it is exposing fraud (or 'fear mongering' as her opponents would say). I think we both know whose fear is being mongered....

No surprise here amazing Thailand anybody who tells the truth will be banned TIT

Pre-Covid, there were enough distractions for the average person living in LOS that the junta's corruption was largely ignored. Now that our very existence rests on their actions and those actions are painfully, obviously wrong, this truth telling MUST be quashed or else all hell will break loose.

 

When a person has nothing left to lose, they will turn to desperate measures to literally save their lives, and we're just about at that breaking point.

These are extra doses of vaccine which would otherwise not be available at all.

She should be probably glad someone didn't find the need for a defamation charge too. Wouldn't even be the first, for real reason or not.
