The question is which variant was detected and which caused their death.  From reading up on new information it appears the Delta variant moves quickly as a disease moving from minor symptoms to those causing the need for ICU treatment and ventilators.

https://www.msn.com/en-xl/africa/other/factcheck-is-it-true-covid-19-delta-variant-comes-without-symptoms/ar-AAM90by

According to the WHO Director-General, Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyhe, the Delta variant is crippling around the world at a scorching pace, driving a new spike in cases and deaths. Delta is now in more than 104 countries and we expect it to soon be the dominant COVID-19 strain circulating worldwide.

While the Delta Variant is more severe than other variants of the COVID-19 virus, it is however untrue it comes without symptoms as claimed in this sentence in the message being forwarded on WhatsApp which states: “And of course, It’s more virulent and with a higher mortality rate.  Sometimes without symptoms!!”

While the Delta variant is said to be faster and fitter and will pick off the more vulnerable more efficiently than previous variants, it comes with symptoms like other variants of the COVID-19.

From the total 9,186 cases that were found in the past 24 hours:

- 7,481 were found via tests at medical facilities

- 1,604 via proactive tests at known clusters

- 79 via proactive tests in prisons

- 22 imported

https://twitter.com/ThaiEnquirer/status/1415552392045633542

So those figures of tests in medical facilities, and known clusters etc pretty much adds up to arrive at the total of 9186.

Where are the positive tests for random testing?

Vaccine cocktail approved on Monday placed under review causing provincial suspensions

Study into side effects ordered by the PM after top doctor already presented his emphatic findings based on a study involving 1,200 patients at King Chulalongkorn Memorial Hospital. The concerns raised by Prime Minister Prayut Chan ocha may be linked to a warning from the Chief Scientist of the World Health Organisation Dr Somaya Swaminathan against such tactics.

https://www.thaiexaminer.com/thai-news-foreigners/2021/07/14/vaccine-cocktail-review-causes-suspension/

One shot of Sinovac provides little immunity anyway but this most have dropped off to extremely low levels after 6 weeks which is the gap proposed by Dr Yong for a a second shot of AZ.  Immunity provided by Sinovac + AZ is unknown but certain to be much lower than AZ + AZ and may not be better than just one shot of AZ.  It is pretty obvious anyway that they need to just throw away the Sinovac they have and cancel the orders on the way.  The money saved from the cancelled orders could at least be used for ventilators and oxygen tanks.

Thonburi Group deal to bring in ‘Pfizer’ vaccine “60 per cent” complete

A deal by Thonburi Hospital Group to bring in Pfizer vaccines is now 60 per cent complete but there is still doubt over the government’s regulation, a representative from the Thonburi Healthcare Group (THG) told Thai Enquirer on Thursday.

“The remaining 40 per cent are things that are outside of our control and we cannot confirm anything until the deal is finalized,” said Dr Suwadee Puntpanich, a director at Thonburi Bamrungmuang Hospital.

Suwadee said that a deal could be completed as early as Thursday evening or could drag on depending on government regulators.

It will be great if THG can pull it off and import Pfizer from BionTech.  Dr Boon said he was in touch with Pfizer and Moderna last year and was ready to import 50m doses in November but was blocked by the government.

This announcement is from early April, so far only 4.5 millions of doses delivered.

Guess when Thailand is going to get some Pfizer jabs under a contract which is not signed yet...

Its a hole new ball game with delta, new study summary here:

The Delta Variant Isn't Just Hyper-Contagious. It Also Grows More Rapidly Inside You

On average, people infected with the delta variant had about 1,000 times more copies of the virus in their respiratory tracts than those infected with the original strain of the coronavirus, the study reported.

https://www.npr.org/sections/goatsandsoda/2021/07/08/1013794996/why-the-delta-variant-is-so-contagious-a-new-study-sheds-light

Quick replication is definitely a problem with this new <deleted>.  Add in now he newest Lambda and Gamma strains being found and it does get worrying.  It would have been great had the world banded together and created just 1 or 2 vaccines that they could be continuously updating as the new variants appear much like the flu vaccines.

Actually, it comes with symptoms like any other disease. Otherwise it wouldn't be a disease, would it?  If only we could be so lucky that the Delta variant actually had no symptoms. Its symptoms do differ, though, in some respects, from previous variants.

From Sunday

From the total 9,539 cases that were found in the past 24 hours:

- 7,113 were found via tests at medical facilities

- 2,305 via proactive tests at known clusters

- 103 via proactive tests in prisons

700 less at known clusters. Not sure if anything can be read into this but it will be interesting to see if these numbers keep heading south given the govt's insane and inhumane policy regarding those poor people locked in the C19 prisons.

No it does not necessarily come with symptoms, it also spreads from people with "no symptoms"

There have been a few who have said herein that it has no symptoms except those of the common cold, which is why I posted what I did as the information was misleading regarding the symptoms the delta variant can have as it attacks the body.

Thailand should start publishing the breakthrough cases, hospitalization and deaths of anyone vaccinated. So far only stats about the health workers are published. Every day there are 80-90 deaths, probably some of them vaccinated.

Thailand on Thursday reported a new pandemic record high of 98 COVID deaths in the past day, along with 9,186 new cases, the country’s fifth 9,000+ new case day in the past week.

The 98 new deaths marked an increase from the 87 reported on Wednesday. The country’s prior highest daily COVID death toll had been 91 on July 10, while Wednesday’s 87 deaths previously had been the second highest day.

Included in Wednesday's 87 COVID deaths were 55 in the country's capital province of Bangkok, setting another new record death toll by surpassing Bangkok's prior high of 51 from July 10. [Thursday's death toll by province will be reported later in the day.]

The 9,186 new cases reported Thursday, the country’s fifth highest daily tally, marked a modest decline from the 9,317 cases reported Wednesday, but was substantially above the 8,600+ case counts reported Monday and Tuesday.

Thursday’s results, with the highly contagious Delta variant of the coronavirus still spreading throughout Thailand, kept the country on the verge of fulfilling predictions that it will soon surpass 10,000 new COVID cases and 100 COVID deaths per day.

The new COVID numbers came on the fourth day of COVID restrictions that took effect on Monday in Bangkok and nine other hard-hit provinces including an overnight 9 p.m. to 4 a.m. curfew, restrictions on interprovincial travel and various business closures in Bangkok and five adjoining provinces.

Thursday’s update included 9,107 new cases in the general population and 79 cases coming from prisons. Since the start of the pandemic, Thailand has now recorded 372,215 total COVID cases and 3,032 deaths, although some Thai doctors say the real figures, especially for cases, are likely much higher.

Because of the rapid rise in new COVID cases in Thailand, the country as of Wednesday was still reporting new record high levels of COVID cases hospitalized (99,511), the share of those in critical condition (3,201), and the share of those requiring ventilators to breathe (828).

The number of COVID patients hospitalized in critical condition passed the 3,000 threshold for the first time Tuesday. And all the hospital figures -- hospitalizations, critical condition and ventilator patients -- have doubled in the past two to three+ weeks.

As of Wednesday, Thailand's population of hospitalized COVID patients in critical condition had increased daily for 25 days in a row. The share of those requiring ventilators to breathe had increased for nine days in a row.

-------------------------

BKK and 5 adjoining province lockdown restrictions beyond 9 p.m. to 4 a.m. daily curfew:

1.  Government/private “Work From Home” encouraged

2.  Public transport (buses & rail lines) close at 9 p.m. until at least 4 a.m.

3.  Department store, shopping center, and community mall shops closed, except for…

4.  Within malls and centers, the following can open until 8 p.m.: supermarkets, takeout food outlets, banks & financial institutions, pharmacies, building supplies, postage/parcel & mobile phone related shops.

5.  No sit-down dining allowed. Takeout food & beverage service allowed till 8 p.m.

6.  Convenience stores & night markets close 8 p.m. to 4 a.m.

7.  Schools, indoor fitness centers, massage parlors and spas closed

8.  Public gatherings of more than 5 people banned.

9.  Parks and outdoors sports & exercise venues open till 8 p.m.

I think he meant that you will have symptoms if not asymptomatic, because as we all know Asymptomatic people have no idea they have it until they start to show symptoms and thus are able to spread the virus unknowingly.  At least thats how I interpreted his post and thus my post back in regards.
