Thailand's chief of immigration Lt-Gen Sompong Chingduang gave details of the latest operations to crack down on the movement of illegal immigrants at a briefing yesterday.

Kamphaengphet Immigration had stopped a husband and wife called Krittapha and Thanawadee who had two illegal Vietnamese women in their car (with Nong Bua Lamphu plates).

They were Mis Do, 28, and Miss Nguyen, 24, and were being taken from Bangkok to Mae Sot, Tak, on the north western border with Myanmar.

The illegal immigrants told police they had sneaked over the Thai/Malaysian border in the Sadao area then been met by two Thai men who took them to Hat Yai airport then bought them air tickets.

There they all boarded FD 3111 (an Air Asia flight) to Bangkok sitting in adjacent rows.

Airline records and CCTV soon identified the men as Suphachai and Chokanan, men whose pictures were positively identified by the Vietnamese ladies, reported Naew Na

Arrest warrants were issued and led to the arrest of the two men on charges of aiding and abetting illegal immigration.

So the Vietnamese didn't have their passports checked?

Domestic flt, so presumably, the only checks would be expiry date and name in passport against name on ticket or self printed boarding pass

Seen the chief there with his board up and the  ' menials ' looking on in admiration.

These Immigration officers are the only people that would attend the ' opening of an envelope! '  and find it interesting.

Can confirm, flown on overstay before and no one bats an eye lid at passport stickers, just sub second name check. Even flown with my name spelt wrong on TG and no one noticed on domestic.

And now what will happen?

Likely one of the local cops will put the 2 Viet ladies to work in his  karaoke bar.

I hope they don't use the same investigators that they sent to Pattaya to look for prostitution.

Surely, you're not suggesting opening brown envelopes isn't interesting?

If the envelope was brown most cops would show an interest.

Good long as they don't go to waste.
