Ramathibodi Hospital has announced the suspension of all elective surgery appointments and some ward services, with the exception of emergency cases, until further notice.

 

The suspensions are part of the three measures announced yesterday by Dr. Surasak Leela-udomlee, director of the hospital, citing that the soaring number of infections among the medical, which has now reached about 300, and the hospital’s overwhelming workload taking care of about 1,000 hospitalized COVID-19 patients, 350 patients in home isolation and 200 others waiting to be admitted for treatment.

 

The third measure is the scaling down of out-patient examination and telemedicine services and postal deliveries of medicine.

I thought all healthworkers had at least a first shot of some sort of Sino vax, don't they work?

For more than a year all doctors of all countries have known that the surgeon's mask does not protect against Covid but that it takes the N95, in Thailand all doctors use the surgeon's mask, no doctor in Thailand read medical literature world?

Or is Thailand not part of the planet earth?

it's been proven previously that the Sinovac vaccine did/does not provide the protection it was expected to.

Let the majority of them to go homes, as they are asymptomatic or have very mild infections. 

Home isolation care suppose to be done by the local clinic. Large and specialised hospitals not suppose to be involved in minor procedures, slows them down and exposes to infected patients.

 

The opposite direction should be taken - as much as possible of telemedicine. Even positive doctors, and even nurses, can do it and even as a home work, without need for coming to hospital office. 

Postal deliveries of medicines is the easiest to do, doesn't burden doctors, just one pharmacist can process hundreds orders daily. They can also be given emergency right to issue prescriptions. Otherwise patients will be coming to hospital pharmacy or walking to pharmacies (in thailand pharmacies don't run online orders).

 

That would allow to run the hospital along the normal mode.

But Anutin is convinced everything is under control... and that Sinovac is all they need..

Obviously what he says on both counts is false.

600,000 have had 2 jabs. Notice the article wont say what vaccine it was. 

Thailand should have consulted with India on the Delta variant.  Too late now.

They may have worked just as designed.  They limit the severity of infections.  There is no guarantee that one does not get infected.  A vaccinated person can still carry and transmit the virus, perhaps for only a limited amount of time, but they can still do it.  I have my doubts that the workers were all vaccinated.

They mitigate against infection, serious illness, death and likelihood of serious infection, but are not a guarantee. No vaccines are. The twice vaccinated Minister for Health in the UK has just caught covid19.

It's irrelevant. Any vaccine is better than no vaccine.  And vaccine snobbery is stupid. There seems to be faults and imperfections with all vaccines.

I hope that the burn out factor is less in Thailand. In Canada there are a lot of nurses and doctors who

are changing their careers after this pandemic is over. So many of them have worked very long hours

in bad conditions, and seeing so many people dying, is hard on anyone.  I have worries about the next

few years.  The doctors and nurses are all heroes. My thanks goes out to all of them.
