Things are moving so fast, I am losing track of of the names for the virus variants. Checking on it now, I see that the WHO assigns Greek letters only to variants classified as "Variants of Concern (VOCs)" and "Variants of Interest (VOIs)" . Three variants that were originally classified as VOIs and given the letters Epsilon, Zeta and Theta were subsequently demoted to "Alerts for Further Monitoring" with the names B.1.427/B.1.429, P.2 and P3 respectively.

The WHO has to go through the Greek alphabet first before moving on to something else. I doubt, though, that it will be a spelling table like alpha, bravo, charlie etc.

After Zeta, Eta and Theta sweep through, I doubt anyone's gonna give an Iota....
