Maybe. But the linked Bangkok Jack article says: The vaccine was free but he spent about $4,200 on airfares and other travel-related expenses, including two weeks in hotel quarantine on the way back into Thailand.

The whole point is the type of vaccine.  The finance side is irrelevant.

Bang Sue vaccinations will continue but for pre-registered people only, government says

The government has no plans to close down Bang Sue Grand Station’s vaccination center, but a preregistration-only process is being launched for the next round of vaccination, the government said this week.

“We are looking to fix the queuing problem and the Bang Sue center is a public service center, so any improvements must not affect the services that the people are already getting,” said Ratchada Dhnadirek, the deputy government spokeswoman.

“The government has never talked about closing the center down at any meeting, only talks on how to improve it,” she told Thai Enquirer.

https://www.thaienquirer.com/30462/bang-sue-vaccinations-will-continue-but-for-pre-registered-people-only-government-says/

I would have thought that the best way to fix the queueing problem would be to open more vaccination centres. Pre registration usually leads to crashed web sites as they fail to meet demand, and a bunch of people being given “appointments” at the same time, which still leads to queueing.

clearly the issue is about capacity not meeting demand and all they will achieve with this is to provide a service to fewer people. But the demand is still out there.

It’s not correct to quote only part of a post, thereby changing its meaning. If you have a comment to make, you should quote the entire post, or an excerpt so that the context and meaning are clear.

If you highlight part of a post, up comes the QUOTE SELECTION function. If you're not supposed to use it, then they should de-activate it. So far they haven't.

As long as I still have edit time I'll just add this:

Good work on the lockdowns. But how is his vaccination program going? That is the biggest part of dealing with the pandemic.

He is on a winner with the vaccine program as that is the federal gov's responsibility and like Thailand they were banking on home grown vaccine but that went ar$ up and they are now up the same creek as Thailand and likewise without a propulsion device called a paddle and the creek has a foul stench emanating from it.

Unfortunately they may be part of the crowd that wants everything opened up and do not want to have their lives impeded by restrictions.  Selfish people of which we do hear from daily.

Are they the selfish ones though? How many people are advocating for lockdowns out of fear for themselves? Especially those who consider themselves the most vulnerable and for whom the lockdowns have the least impact on quality of life?

It is incredibly frustrating to feel chained by these lockdowns (that I have been complying with despite my disagreement), only to see the folks in the vulnerable category say things like "I don't think there's much of a lockdown going on. I haven't noticed much difference day-to-day."

Like, this is what I'm sacrificing to preserve? Lives of such dynamism and quality that even under the strictest lockdowns I have ever experienced they barely notice the difference? And those are the people most vocal that everyone else should sacrifice for their own safety? If that's not selfish then I dk.

I walked in at 3.30 and walked out before 5pm. (I didn't wait for the 30min observation).

All up wasn't too bad. The first set of queues that you were moved from one area to next seemed to indicate it would take forever. The last 2 sections ... paperwork then Jab was quick.

Tip my hat to the wonderful staff that work there from nurse to queue staff. So helpful and polite. I was impressed.

The AZ was from Thailand.

Go back on 19 Oct.

I agree I thought the organisation was great. Suprised at how many people were there from your pic that's looks like way more than Sunday and suprised they didn't make you wait the 30 minutes.

I went to go straight out but the time on the form was pointed out to me. Denied. I understand. They need to check for anaphylaxis and non anaphylaxis allergic reactions. I was fine with that.

It's pretty full on. You go through 2 'stand up holding bay areas which is stand up.

Then sit down for final process.

Then again to another sit down area for jab.

This pic is process sit down area for process

That's pretty much the same as it it was for me. Hope the next few days aren't too bad for you. May I suggest you google AZ symptoms looking at the severe ones and just keep an eye out over the next 3 or 4 wks. The nurses aspirate the injections so no chance of intravascular rather than intramuscular but worth keeping in mind. 48+hrs for me and I'm just a bit achy today.

Sinovac may not be the best at stopping infection but it's still better than nothing when it comes to preventing deaths. It seems some are quick to accuse the Thai administration of jeopardising lives yet those same people seem to have few qualms about doing the same thing in order to have their choice of vaccine.

But Sinovac is still under review. Not supported by WHO. Not acceptable to many countries as being counted as vaccinated. No real testing has been done regarding Sinovac followed by AZ despite that wishy washy report today. Not supposed to be gioven to over 60s. Need I go on. We have every right to opt for what is considered to be the best option. Hence my wait for Moderna. None of this would have needed to be discussed if the Thai authorities had ordered the vaccines last year instead of resting on their laurels.

Sinovac will be disregarded by all countries using it except those who are being pressured by the CCP or there is a finacial arrangement to fill pockets. mRNA is too far away for mass vaccination in Thailand. I said a week ago or so that if I could get 2 AZ this yr and mRNA booster nxt yr that's not too bad. 1 AZ down. 2nd in October and who knows about the booster nxt yr. Someone on here said "You're dreaming." You know who you are. You were wrong. It is happening it's just that it should have happened a long time ago and it didn't because of.........corruption. No COVAX just SinoVac.

You sure about that?

WHO validates Sinovac COVID-19 vaccine for emergency use and issues interim policy recommendations

WHO today validated the Sinovac-CoronaVac COVID-19 vaccine for emergency use, giving countries, funders, procuring agencies and communities the assurance that it meets international standards for safety, efficacy and manufacturing. The vaccine is produced by the Beijing-based pharmaceutical company Sinovac.
