Govt Thanks Britain for Donating 415,000 Vaccine Doses

BANGKOK, (TNA) – Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha expressed his gratitude for Britain’s donation of about 415,000 COVID-19 vaccine doses for accelerated inoculations in Thailand.

 

Government spokesman Anucha Burapachaisri said Gen Prayut who was also the defence minister extended his gratitude towards the British government for donating 415,040 doses of the AstraZeneca vaccine early next month.

 

The donation would support the Thai government’s efforts to control COVID-19 and ensure public safety and economic recovery as soon as possible, Mr Anucha said.

Great news for Thais....................Detecting some sour grapes comments above................Many Brits feel that when they are residents in a foreign country that it is still the responsibility of the British government to organise their vaccinations rather than their hosts'. I understand the sentiment of those who feel left out, but IMO the finger of blame lies with the host country.........................................................Aggrieved expats however would have preferred to read news that a caveat was included in the UK's donation..one that included a firm request for the Thai government to arrange prompt vaccination of all Britsih expats in the Kingdom..it's always possible that their is such a condition...................

I will certainly have the displeasure of meeting the Ambassador Mark at some point in the future and you can rest assured I will convey my feelings on this matter to him. 

 

By all means donate vaccines to Thailand but we should NEVER leave our citizens overseas without assistance in a time of crisis.

We Brits know very well that we are going to get no assistance whatsoever from the UK gov, but for them to rub it in by doing this simply rubs salt in to the whole thing.

This has made 415,040 Thais, chosen friends of the Government, very happy whilst further alienating all ex-pat Brits. Not content with freezing our pension UK is actively striving to stop it permanently like they did last year to thousands of inmates of UK Care Homes.

The country is dead to me after 31 years here in Thailand. I am struggling to find any connection with the place I was born and used to be proud to be from. 

 

I see the UK has been infiltrated by Marxists and immigrant refugees from failed states that has increased criminality, diluted the identity of our people and has brought dangerous religious ideologies which we have traditionally fought against for over 1,000 years.

I'm not British, but any country which donates (or in this case "sells at cost"?) should receive a simple "Thank you, we appreciate it", not insults.

It's a donation out of the UK foreign aid budget.

I turned my back on my country of birth over 20 years ago, I happily take my state pension which I paid into thus feel that I'm entitled to.

Other than that I don't think I'm owed anything nor do I expect anything from Britain. 

If I were fortunate enough to receive one of the UK donated vaccines I'd be grateful but this being Thailand I'm not holding my breath.

So far the French Chinese Japanese have got their expats jabbed. Even the Yanks Aussies Swiss and Irish got some brief priority at Bang Sue.

Why does the UK do nothing. Carrier force in ASEAN, gifting jabs to the natives. Perhaps they are so locked into their colonialist past that they don't think UK expats exist in Siam? Get your fingers out and get us jabbed!!!
