PHUKET: The heavy downpours and strong winds are expected to continue across Phuket and neighbouring coastal provinces until next Wednesday (Aug 4), according to a weather advisory issued by the Thai Meteorological Department (TMD).

The advisory follows downpours soaking the island overnight, with wet roads and strong winds making driving conditions dangerous.

From Phang Nga northward, southwesterly winds of 20-40km/h and wave heights reaching up to three metres in thundershowers are forecast for the coming days.

How about slowing down and keeping your distance?

And people pay good money to sit in a hotel room watching the rain, ordering in 7/11 premiere offerings.

It's called seasonal weather happens every year.

  • 42c in Dubai  today. Family went to Maldives already
  • Better than 15 nights locked  in a room, "dry" Why not?
  • It doesn't rain 2 weeks straight. and surfs up Kahuna. No hordes, cleanest marine environment in decades.

So maybe not everything is a negative? Have a great weekend.

Wet roads cause extra friction on the tires slowing the vehicle down...therefore must increase speed to compensate ????

I can see the next headline brewing:

Phuket pause Sandbox program for one month due to heavy rain and strong wind.

It is a brilliant opportunity for Thai government to save face and not to mention Covid as the reason to pause the program for a short while.

Do you really think that will happen?

The perpetually wrong doom mongers cheerleading for failure of the sandbox will try use any excuse they can.  I doubt most of them even know it's rainy season in Phuket right now.
