British food shops on Samui?

Featured Replies

There used to be a couple of shops which sold imported British snacks, food and drinks on Phangan. Unfortunately these have both closed in recent months. I'm planning to pop over to Samui soon and wondered if there are any such places.....

I'm aware that the imported food sections in the big supermarkets have some good stuff, but just wondering if there are any shops on Samui I don't know about.....?

Cheers

The best Indian food is from England

Bamboo Cafe & Shop in Hua Thanon (a few km south of Lamai) sells and serves all kinds of British food and also has a small assortment of snacks.  Highly recommended, best English breakfast on the island.

The one near the Irish Times pub closed a while ago. Probably due to Covid.

Tops often has some Waitrose stuff and also UK known sweets and chocolates, but supplies are not as regular as they were pre Covid.

There are some places on Lazada you can order from;

BritiShop:   https://www.lazada.co.th/shop/britishop?spm=a2o4m.store_followlist.0.0.59516108InVdoy

Obviously there is some Tesco stuff in Tesco Lotus (Chaweng) but getting less by the day.

I see that they also sell their own Lotus brand now but presumably that is CP stuff.

Bangrak Minimart has a small selection of British stuff.

That Tesco stuff must be getting pretty old now and well past the sell by date.

I can recommend Britishop on line, all delivered on time, chilled& frozen food come in a foam box with dried ice, their is an island fee for delivery but 400baht shipment all up is cheaper (and safer) than driving anywhere, and vast variety.

I live on Samui too but order from Siamburis/Expat Foods Thailand (link below).   They are very good, decent prices, loads of stock, proper bacon and black pudding etc.  If you order frozen stuff the shipping is a bit more because they use a proper container and dry ice so the stuff actually stays frozen.  I like playing with the dry ice after I get my stuff hahaha.  Delivery is never more than 2 days and usally comes in 24 hours.  Very good service.

I just get fed up with people who have never been to the UK nor tried the majority of British foods spouting off about something that they know nothing about.

In reality a lot of British food is very tasty and the belief that British food is bland comes from a time when foreign ingredients were not available in the local market.

You would have to have a very low education or be a racist to still believe that British food is still tasteless.

What would you really prefer, a plate of grits or a plate of Chicken Tika Masala?

Some of it was just about that last date, last year, when I bought some of the stuff for next-to-nothing on sale - I'm normally polite and leave one item on the shelf for someone else to buy - the only things that seems to last without a "best before date" are unfortunately the wine in "Tesco Finest", which I would love to get hand on for half price or less...????
