I just went to my local post office to ask the cost of sending 4 t-shirts to India. They said it was not possible right now. ????????????????

I have always presumed that private freight companies would be more expensive, due to them usually handling big consignments.

Have any members recently sent anything overseas, and if yes please share your ideas. As I wrote, it's just 4 t-shirts to India, so cost is the main issue.

yea i noticed that too when i walked by the PO.. Postal services have closed?  how long?  private couriers still working?

Never had an issue, unless this is new or just certain countries, send overseas every week.

 

DHL available but more expensive and depending on content the receiver will get hit for import duty.

yesterday international service was still offered.

might be an issue with indian post office.

Ask them, when they stopped service and when they do expect to commence.

 

 

So having even mail sent or forwarded from Thailand is not possible "right now"? Or are only parcels affected? A breakdown of postal services is a sign that things are bad indeed.

There are some countries that the are not accepting mail to.

Cargo flights to and from Thailand have never been banned because of covid-19 in fact the number of services increased. Avoid international, "mail" Options? UPS, DHL, FedEx.

 

The lack of domestic flights is certainly slowing everything down. But FedEx pack to Japan from Chiang Mai this week 4 days. I saw the truck to Bangkok being loaded 

UPS letter from Ohio, USA arrived yesterday, 10 days en route. An expected letter from same address sent by Japan Post has not arrived in 3 weeks

 

 I would not trust international mail now for anything more valuable than a picture postcard. Lonely postbags sub-loaded on dwindling numbers passenger aircraft as a secondary consideration. Airline does not care when it gets there, postal workers have no much incentive either.

 

I think there are almost no commercial flights to India right now.....I have not seen a single Indian tourist in ages....

Yes be very aware of import duty, I sent some limited edition T.Shirts to UK and my daughter had to pay very much more than the cost of the T. Shirts.
