No, not at all, my village is 70% Myanmar and Laos. I was alluding that the number surprised me. It's often quoted there are 3 Million migrant workers which woud mean 2 million additional foreigners.

Just seemed higher than I would expect.

Would be great if someone would produce a table of actual numbers by country?

If you live in Thailand and have been here for any length of time you should know what to expect TiT! Thais first forever! The all important politicians, the Army, Police, Navy and Air Force. Then the VIT (the Very Important Thais) then the business people with money and their staff. Then and only then the frontline workers - in healthcare, hospitals, etc. (they should be first)! Thailand plays the under developed country card whenever it suits them - remember the tsunamis - 2004 and 2011. They played the poor under developed country with no money for disaster control. All across the world we were urged to send money and help poor Thailand and the poor Thai people... forget the Philippines, Indonesia, Papua New Guinea, Australia, New Zealand, Fiji, Mexico, Guatemala, El Salvador, Costa Rica, Nicaragua, Panama, Honduras, Chile, Ecuador and Columbia. A year later the international community asked where all of the money went and were stonewalled with blank faces by the Thais. A decent percentage went into the corrupt's pockets and was 'unaccounted for'. When the Bangkok Post did a survey on 23/09/2011 "64% of all adults questioned think corruption is acceptable if they or their country benefit. 70% under 20 would cheat or bribe to pass exams or win games" - that's two thirds ladies and gentlemen! Corruption in Thailand is a way of life - the politicians do it and constantly feather their own nest - look at all of the ex politicians. They are all filthy rich and their children act as if butter would not melt in their mouths. TAT doesn't know anything else, the armed forces, police, judiciary - that's the real pandemic in Thailand. Sadly it is the only the Land of Smiles when they are taking money from you. I know that there are some decent, honest, trustworthy, hard working Thai citizens out there but their leaders tend not to set the best example.

However all the waiting wives at BPH today reported nothing available for Thais in Pattaya so elderly expats are getting priority. Morprom hasn't worked for Thais so it's not surprising they turn up in droves at vac sites and have to be turned away. By the way there were quite a few fighting fit and sprightly expats amongst those being vaccinated today!

Good news for expats!

Yeah, that Mor Prom is a waste of time.

I agree that all should be treated equally.  But the numbers seem to say that foreigners are way behind.  Can't say what is happening in Khon Kaen, but perhaps they are trying to catchup the foreigners?

I'm not sure what's happening here too and the reasons behind all the foreigners getting it, including the Pfizer.

I was in Mahasarakhm today and my expats friends there said they were offered the Sinovac ages ago but didn't want it. They got the Astra in Khon Kaen.

Adding to this post, you are correct about those living in Bangkok. Now add in the Myanmar workers, fair comment, then expats living in Phuket, Koh Samui, Chiang Mai etc who can easily get jabs. Now what about those of us who live nowhere near the big cities? We are all well down the list because of where we live! I am was with BCC but they expected me to drive all the way to Bangkok which entails a 6 hour drive one way. Expatvac, still waiting to hear having registered and qualified on Aug 1st and wondering where the jab will take place, if ever.

The wife and I are registered to have Moderna, which is supposed to be 100% happening according to the Line messages from Thonburi Hospitals. I am over 60 and no, Sinovac is not acceptable to me because of possibly flying to UK and the fact it is not proven especially if followed up by AZ despite the Thai doctor saying otherwise with no evidence!!

I was also registered with my local hospital and never heard a word from them. I understand that Thais come first but when you are repeatedly informed by this government that foreigners are going to be vaccinated and this is how you can do it then diddly squat happens for those of us who live in the sticks, then rightfully we do get a tad <deleted> off!

Although I understand your annoyance, a 6 hour drive to get a life-saving jab is not that much of a hardship.

I'm sure you would be allowed a day off work to do it.

do they count foreigners that returned to their home countries to be jabbed ? my mate is helping their numbers immensely by going back to UK to get double jabbed and now about to return via the sandbox ???? I think he deserves a gift basket at least as he will also spend at least 1 billion baht on something or other, eventually ????????????

Nationalities have nothing to do with the brand of vaccine that is administered.

My ancestors were mostly German, so of course I opted for the Pfizer-BioNtech.   Now for flu shots, the bit of Irish in me prefers Bushmills single malt.

... Actually, here in the US, I don't recall if I knew what it was going to be, but it was Pfizer.  My wife got Moderna at a different place.  Vaccine du jour.

As it changes daily I don't think that's going to happen

Not sure if it's a factor, but some countries don't accept certain vaccines for entry.

It is not just the 6 hour drive! It is a case of queuing then getting the jab and the wait afterwards and having to stay a night before the drive home. Otherwise this will become a 15+ hour day!  This is with a wife and 20 month old son and believe me, that will not be easy. And this trip is not done once but twice and you think that is no hardship. So, it is best to keep the head down and hope the Moderna appears or expatvac come through with something sensible.

not true, it was ez to get appointment at MedPark, excellent service

Bangkok is the epicentre of the pandemic. There were disturbing scenes of pandemonium as desperate people swamped the facilities at Bang Sue, not helped by corrupt hackers selling appointments on line.  I live in Pattaya so the journey would be stressful/dangerous if I drove myself.  A taxi might involve me in a two hour closet with an unvaccinated driver.

Registrations from foreigners aged 60+, etc., in that area are being accommodated and vaccinations are being given.   "Ringfencing" is not happening and living in Pattaya does not preclude anyone who qualifies from receiving the vaccination in Bangkok.

Good luck Mike! As an aside, I lived in Patts from 2008 to about 2017 .. what are things like now? Is it truly a ghost town? I’m trying to imagine the place without international tourism it’s hard to get one head around it

Thanks - I've now got an appointment locally.  Pattaya is a ghost town with rows of boarded up shops/bars/businesses.  There are people sleeping rough or breaking into empty places to shelter for the night.  Traffic is very thin so driving is a joy (allowing for Thai d*ckheads); parking is possible everywhere.  There's lots more wild dogs and fewer police in evidence.

Bang Saen, Burapha University Hospital have signup some time ago.

We (Wife and I) was told that the appointment we got, Was going to be cancel. And it did.
But wee need to keep a eye out on the internet for when the hospital write.
People that have appointment X-XX date to come for Astra Jab.

So on the day we see it online that we can come and get our first Astra jab.
Of we go and 1.5-2 hours later it was done.

We all so go the appointment for second jab.
Was told that appointment date was correct for the second jab.
But have to wait and see.

I am not 60 years old, I am from Denmark (If that matter).

So for me it was pretty easy to get my jab, So no complain from me.

Why would you take your family with you?

I would be happy with a day off work, staying in a hotel, break form the family.

Just a guess, he probably wants his wife to be vaccinated too and nobody to take care of the kid. Just my guess though.

Well I know what travelling with young kids is like, once I had to take a 2 y/o on a flight to Scotland when I had a broken leg - nightmare!

I just don't get why retired guys complain about things like this, and also spending one day a year at immigration.

Quite simply, my grasp of the Thai language is not particularly good therefore need my Thai wife to accompany me, so my son has to come as well.  I suspect the vaccination point is going to be right in the city and I am coming up from the South. And it will not be a day off from work nor will it be fun going up to the epicentre of this virus. Thanks but no thanks as it is easier to avoid all of this where we live.

As in one of the links I sent you if over 75 which you are you matched the requirements for a shot.  But as the article said IF you are over 75 you could walk in, no apointment required . If 60---74 you were supposed to register online for an appointment. They were generous in letting your mate in at 70.

Starting 19 July 2021, all foreigners aged 75 and over, who are residing in Thailand and have yet to receive any COVID-19 vaccines, can register for vaccination by walk-in process at the Central Vaccination Center - Bangsue Grand Station every day between 9:00 - 16:00 hrs.

It said residing in Thaialnd  not just Bangkok, they were of course checking adress and passport. Apointmments had to be made if 60---74  but over 75 were walkins and if you had a youger person drive you say 60--74 they would have been shot as well.  No sure it's available now as was supposed to stop I think Aug 1st

Okay, so getting a Pfizer jab ahead of people over 60, people with underlying illnesses and pregnant women is not queue jumping?? I am not blaming you for taking what is offered, it is the organisation that is providing the vaccines that is at fault here. ☹️☹️

It's not queue jumping, the Piizer was a donation from the US with a stipulation that 150,000 of the 1.5 million shots be given to foreiners. They didn't specify  Americans so any foreingers could get the shot  any age. If you are farang and haven't got a shot yet it's basically the luck of the draw here.  I managed to get on intervac and got AZ and will get second shot Sept 12th.

No queue jumping at all, they had doses allocated and I was free to sign up. All above board. Was people from SG first then other countries. Did see some other white skinned expats besides the Singaporeans. So i was not alone. All done above board did not bribe anyone. It was actually free (surprised me the most).

Just a lucky opportunity. In 3 weeks ill get my second shot.

You're under 60 aren't you?

I understand of course that it was offered and you took it- who wouldn't!- but in all honesty I think you will agree that it is morally indefensible.

(Not blaming you Rob, but the system stinks).

I am under 60 have signed up for moderna that got pushed back. All I did was register somewhere where others could register too. So it was a fair playingfield. I just got the information fast because i had some friends who look at facebook (i dont).

Morally i would feel it would be indefensible if it was sure that the vaccine that i took would have gone to someone better, but that was not the case. They set the rules and anyone could register with SG people having priority. So had i not taken it someone else probably even younger then me would have taken it. Most people who were there were far younger then me. But i was not the only white guy so they really let everyone in.

But yes it could have been given to someone else if there was a functioning system. This is just a government cock up that i took advantage of.

But how about workers far younger that take shots before old people (is being done too). Fact is there are so many exceptions and strange things like for instance in Phuket everyone gets vaccinated younger too for the sandbox. Is that defensible.

Like i said i would feel bad if i took advantage in a working system. Now I just was lucky and you could have been too had you seen that post and filled in the link. Basically i also did it because my moderna was pushed back from q4 to q 2 next year.

I'm from Pattaya and after my experience at MedPark last Friday I would gladly make the 2 hour travel than risk the crowd in Pattaya.. Upon arrival at MedPark I pulled up 3 meters from the main door where a valet took my car. I was escorted to a seat with ample separation. Five minutes and they took my blood pressure, another five minutes I was jabbed and seated for a 30 minute observation. I was escorted to the main door where my car was waiting. Never in my life have I experienced better coordination. On top of that even being midday on a friday traffic was extremely light. It was really nice getting out and taking a ride after looking at four walls so long. Really looking forward to returning Sept 3rd for my second Pfiver. Don't believe and become sheeple to what you read here as 90% of it is BS.
