Thailand’s Prime Minister Prayuth Chan-o-cha has refuted the Opposition’s claim that his government should be held accountable for all the COVID-19 deaths, as a result of its failures in managing the pandemic, but has vowed to navigate the country through the crises and to rebuild the economy during the last four months of this year.

In his final statement, before the end of the four-day censure debate Friday, the prime minister told parliament that it is unfair to be accused of “trading in the deaths” of people.

He told the opposition to acknowledge the vast number of people recovering from the contagion, claiming that the recoveries are accounting for 85% of those infected, thanks to everyone’s cooperation in the joint efforts to contain the disease.

PM vows to spend rest of year rebuilding the Thai economy and the country.   Please don't. Find someone who knows what they are doing.

  • We were always told, as kids growing up, to "man up" and accept responsibility for our mistakes and learn from them.

I hope that includes the Civil Union Bill or same sex marriage. It was approved by the parliament in July 2018 and it would not take long to be a law.. Now we are almost 4 years further and still nothing.... Delaying delaying is the Thai word for everything,

Why do you need to rebuild the country if the government hasn't destroyed it? Why not be specific and tell the people what parts of the country need rebuilding. Why not listen to and acknowledge the issues being raised by the people, instead of ignoring the voice of the people and accusing them of being wrong?

Rebuilding the economy = making more money for CP, Central and the other big boys. Will small businesses be supported?

Shouldn't he be vowing to spend his whole term of office doing this?

At the beginning of the Covid crisis he said that he would be running the show and would be personally  responsible for everything. Well, he has proved once again how useless he is, and all his lickers !

yes very much.. for some people maybe not important but very important if you die or if you are in a condition in a hospital to give permission for treatment....in if you are becoming of age you want things arrange and we did already with a lawyer but the promised Civil Union Bill will take all problems away and makes things much easier of same sex partners

Yet, that someone will be bound to the same systems. If anything requires dismantling and rebuilt - it would be this.

Than we can move on to that particular someone that we can become dreamy about.????

After 7 years of meritorious performance, exchequer is nearly empty.

have to replenish during the rest of the year, so that meritorious performance can continue.

Until he doesn't. But honestly, when you've packed parliament with Team Tu - you can do anything you want.

Even during these turgid times, really freeing up the "open" market to true independent business will help.

Not that this activity will ever come about.

Just a thought.

Mr Prayuth, where did you learn your maths? I hope to god that a hell of a lot more than 15% of infected people are recovering.  Either that or the notion that you have been 'massaging the figures' is a wild underestatement.

Governments do not build economies. People build them. Governments can only get in people’s way, less, more or a whole lot more.

I hope his rebuild plan starts with the people not space craft

Well of course.

Goes without saying, it's always been about the people and their well being. ????????

And quite fortunate to have a PM that's so dedicated to the people.????

This is like going to a fortune teller at the lowest point in your life and the fortune teller says I predict things will get better in the next few months..

Thai people never never accept responsibility for anything that goes wrong. Just not Thai style. Always someone else's fault.

if his major economic idea is to open country to tourists, there might be surprise, if they don't come in expected numbers.

The truth is, that large parts of country is still dark red zone, partial lockdowns, curfew. That is because he failed to order vaccines in 2020. So markets, many factories, large construction sites, shopping malls, leisure industry had to be shut.

The chance is export of agricultural products because of falling baht.
