Thailand on Thursday (September 9) reported 16,031 new COVID-19 cases, 15,417 recoveries and 220 additional deaths over the past 24 hours.

● 15,417 recoveries

 15,400 new infections

 631 prison / prison infections

Thursday’s cases bring the total number of COVID-19 infections in Thailand to 1,338,550 with 13,731 deaths.

(Total infections since April 1: 1,309,687)

The news comes as Thailand found one confirmed case of vaccine-induced thrombosis and thrombocytopenia (VITT) caused by the AstraZeneca shot, after more than 15 million doses have been administered, the Ministry of Public Health said on Wednesday.

There was also one confirmed case of heart inflammation linked to the Pfizer jab, they said.

Well, the reopening is already a week old, and Delta comes on fast, so...

But I'm with you that the sudden doubling of cases in Chonburi is strange.

I read there were 500 cases or so found in a military camp but can't find the link to that now. Maybe later the Pattaya news will clarify?

The uptick may be because mass testing is being conducted in Klong Toey by Bangkok Community Help Foundation. The 1st 1000 they tested came back with 5% infection rate. For me this seems low for the conditions in the Klong Toey slum.

Remember they supposedly vaccinated all from the slum many months ago.

Gee, who could have predicted all of this with the premature reopening?

And it's only 9 September.

Yup. The date on the colander doesn’t matter, the number of people vaccinated does. And Thailand isn’t there yet.

Seems a little young 3 year olds? I would prefer to see this happening in western countries first, plus again Sinopharm?:

Sinopharm Covid-19 vaccine to be considered for injections on children over 3 years old, Thai FDA reveals

Representatives of the Sinopharm manufacturer in Thailand are proposing permission to distribute the vaccine for children aged over 3 years old, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) reported today, September 8th.

Dr. Paisarn Dunkum, the Deputy Secretary-General of the FDA, revealed that Biogenie Tech Co., Ltd., an authorized distributor of Sinopharm in Thailand, has requested permission to extend the legitimate age group for Sinopharm use, originally from over 18 years old to over 3 years old.

The FDA committee is now considering the vaccine’s safety and efficacy and will announce the consideration as quickly as possible within 30 days, according to the Deputy Secretary-General.
