At the current rate of 667k jabs per day, Thailand will hit 70% fully vaccinated on December the 8th of this year

Yes I read similar numbers on internet.

You believe that average administered doses 667k/day?

Nup. Mind you the 900k+ on Fridays help.

Well numbers will go up when restrictions are relaxed, because it's the restrictions that keep the numbers low.  Surprisingly, this logic escapes many.

AZ seems to cause less VITT in many Asian countries- I wonder why?  Either way, there really seems to be little difference between it and the mRNA vaccines.  In fact, AZ could be considered the best now.

To count infection cases says absolutely nothing, if you don't correlate to the number of tests.

Seems the virus does not only kill people, it kills any math skills too.

Arrivals warned to not use saliva COVID-19 test kits

PHUKET: Health officials at the Phuket Check Point in Tha Chatchai have warned that they will not issue negative test confirmation documents for antigen test kits (ATKs) that checks saliva samples only. Arrivals who present saliva test ATKs only will be denied entry to the island.

Nice to know we need to purchase our own ATK kits, even though we may be double vaccinated. Wonder what the sales price of them are at the checkpoint as you drive in.

It seems to be an almost daily occurrence that a pregnant woman dies from Covid.  I have never seen this documented anywhere else except for here.  Maybe I am just missing it from the reports issued by other countries.

I shouldn't laugh, but this only goes to show, the numbers in Thailand are not very reliable to say the least

Gee, who could have predicted all of this with the premature reopening?

And it's only 9 September.

Nothing to do with the 'premature' anything.

Now that Prayut et al have won their vote of confidence, the real numbers will start to appear but he will blame the good citizens for causing a fourth wave.

The reality is that the third wave never stopped.

16,022 new cases PLUS the 1,904 ATK cases that they conveniently leave out.  These never appear in the 'adjusted' numbers.

Don't panic. The military are in control.

Great, so the saliva ones maybe not as accurate as the nasal ones? I just bought 10 of the saliva ones for use at home, 2 packs of 5 from boots. We were contacted by a health worker and a restaurant that we have daily contact with, all the staff there have covid so we now have to isolate at home and self test.

I'm sure we're all ok, all tested negative so far although my 13 year old daughter had a fever 2 days ago but only for 36 hours or so. I've had first dose AZ, another due on the 18th and my wife was one of the first to be double dosed with Sinovac so she'll be needing a booster.

I think you can be pretty sure that Thailand makes that difference, keeping official covid death numbers as low as possible would be a prime objective of theirs and their classification will ensure that.

Pretty sure?

If they had that mindset wouldn’t another prime objective of theirs be to try and keep the official death numbers on the road as low as possible?

Thailand averages a 20% Covid-19 infection rate over 40 days

Following trends over the last 40 days, Thailand has seen an average of about a 20% infection rate for those tested for Covid-19. Looking at data from 288 authorised testing labs around Thailand (of 375 total) on just September 4, a total of 40,007 people were tested and 8,804 were confirmed to be infected with Covid-19. That equates to a 22% infection rate.

The Thai Medical Sciences Department shared figures that over the previous week, from August 29 to September 4, officials administered an average of about 48,000 Covid-19 tests per day. Of those tests, an average of 9,500 people tested positive for the Coronavirus each day, which creates an average of about 19.8% infection rate.

There's a shift coming, away from simply reporting cases.

It's like having a day with 2000 road deaths, where they simply report the total number of accidents (including people who reversed into a wall).

This shift you speak of has happened nowhere else in the world.

It's not going to happen here either.

New emergency law planned as official says half the people in Bangkok may have contracted COVID

The Thai Council of State is currently reviewing a draft public health emergency law which will come to parliament in November to replace the Emergency Decree which is due to be rescinded. This may create a new body to replace the Centre for Covid-19 Situation Administration (CCSA) which may even be larger than the current government unit directing the country’s response to the crisis.
