Approximately 20.4 percent of the total population of Thailand are fully vaccinated, according to the CCSA data.

At least they are telling the truth with this low #. Discount Chinovac and what do you have?

50% is not enough to fully reopen.  80% is about the mark.

According to the NEW restrictions to come into effect on the 1st of October , less that 40% of the population will be able to enter restaurants and hair salons/barbers/ beauty salons, but 100% will be able to enter shopping malls, supermarkets, dry and wet markets and 7/11, Lotus Fresh and Mini Big C. Ha!  Really makes sense!

As of 17 September 20.4% of the entire population has received 2 doses and another 20.3% has received 1 dose.  At anything close to 700,000 jabs per day, Thailand will exceed 50% by the end of September!  A reasonable goal by the end of October (if supplies hold up) is to be over 70%. With the program expanding to teenagers 12-17 years, they will have enough people wanting the vaccine.

............and that 50% is only one jab.

They are probably 6 months away from being 'safe' to open up.

Well you can only look at what happens in Denmark to see what happens.

Safe to open up?, well even the experts don't know what will happen ,but if Israel is an example, it will be Jabba Jabba jabber, 4 /5 /6 ,note that they might have to use treatment for this as Vaccines do not work in prevention of covid, they only, can give limited protection they say in the form of -- you may not need to go to hospital, you can still be reinfected, and you can still spread it.

It seems the whole world is on a one track path, follow the yellow Vac rd.

No more eating fast food, no more night clubs, no more you can fly, no , no more , where is your V passport, ok you can come in, but don't re-infect our customers

You see V passport stupid can not stop you re-infecting our restaurant even if you have one.

50 % will have only had 1 shot, so are therefore not be fully Vaccinated.

As of today, slightly over 20 % have had 2 shots and are now fully Vaccinated.

And the new consensus of opinion among the Health Professionals Globally, is that 80 % full Vaccination is no longer the benchmark against Delta Covid.

Its 90 %

However you look at these numbers, Thailand has a very long way to go to achieve anything like the numbers being asked for by the rest of the World to make the Country a safe destination.

Maybe, the main tourist spots plus Bangkok could reopen in November provided the latter is 90% covered.

As long as they built a barrier around Bangkok and didn't allow access from people arriving from all over the rest of the country, which is 90% of the population and many of whom have not been vaccinated.

UK has nevertheless found an acceptable solution it seems, and it's quite dense in population.  Probably that's the best example to quote and follow. It's living with covid19.

I'm not anti vax or pro fake news but I saw a post deleted based on those criterion. To avoid commiting the same mistake, is there a pinned post of ASEAN Now's official position on vaccine mandates and  efficacy both long and short term with medical source material and what exactly constitutes "fake news" if this in not simply arbitrary judgments of moderators? Thank you in advance. Be safe everyone!

But it is not what you find acceptable- it's what the UK finds acceptable.

The majority of these are people who simply won't get vaccinated.

Likewise its not what you think is an acceptable target to open up it’s what Thailand decides is acceptable.

76 provinces of Thailand to be precise.

Each with their own powers to open or close as they wish.

A la Koh Tao. Opened then closed everything with a few covid cases.

You should be glad you don't have any business interests in Thailand.

I feel sorry for anyone that does.
