Popular Post georgegeorgia
Today i went to the supermarket in Sydney (we are still in lockdown) .....I overheard a conversation between a elderly woman and another talking about travelling again to Asia. So here i was looking at the baked beans and listening in on their conversation ,the elderly woman probaly over 70 said to the other she cant wait to get back to Bali once the borders are open now her husband died and she could even live there she wished............strange how thoughts come to my mind and i looked her over quite fut and tanned and thinking if she might hire younger men over there???? She caught me looking, probaly thought i was looking at her handbag. Obviously i take it she had travelled numerously to Bali when her hubby was alive so she knew the place But i thought are times changing now? Why isnt we see older Western women retiring to Asia ? Is it happening more ? I wish i had gave my late mother the oppoertunity to travel to Asia when my father passed away but that was a different generation and they wernt travellers like us Is there any farang women on here ? What part of asia do you live in ?....and farang couples too ? I guess places like Bali are more attractive to Aussie retired couples or single women than say Thailand .\,but despite being close here to Australia i have never been to Bali,it just has a bad stigma to it,i think of the low class type Aussies partying there a bit like Phuket i guess Edited October 5, 2021 by georgegeorgia 2 1

thaibeachlovers
My first thought was Bali, because of the Julia Roberts movie. No doubt in my mind that every western woman on the planet watched that and planned to go there in search of Mr Perfection.

Popular Post pgrahmm
I was looking to buy a George Foreman grill...I forgot how we connected, but a lady had one she was selling.... In checking it out and chatting I asked why she was selling it..... She was selling everything & going back to the US....It was her experience that Thailand was too lonely a place for older farang women....She indicated that no men were even interested in friendship, "they all want Thai women".....She also said that there was no groups, or structure of support for retired farang women....They were basically forgotten and invisible....Kind of just a hole in society.... I believe she said that she knew others that had found it the same and had moved away over time.... I didn't try to suggest anything as she was packed and moving on....Not knowing her all I could do was wish her well.... I'm sure there's some niche groups, networks, or "clubs" out there - probably not very many..... I remember upon leaving there that I felt very badly for her....Still do.... 11

There used to be a few western women onThai visa forum years ago although i dont see them write on here anymore as i think many went back to their home countries I guess Pattaya or Phuket would be a good choice for retiring women in Thailand whilst Bali in indonesia would be a first choice for many. IMO she was finding out what it's like to be an unmarried old white man without children that love him in a western country. 10

There are special homes for the elderly in Thailand where old Farang women can be treated by Thai nurses until they die. Maybe they can go there. I don't care as long as they stay away from me. 1 1
shdmn
A lot of them go to Mexico or Bali or wherever. They have a completely different agenda to guys so Thailand doesn't have the same appeal to them.
Popular Post internationalism
I see many female seniors on hua hin beach walking alone or small groups. I would think many are alone, without husbands, widows. There are many estates for Scandinavian's, where they can feel secure and have companionship. Some of those larger estates might have carers, a paramedic, nurse on standby. I have also seen social gatherings in the restaurants, with 20-30 participants, so there is a community to give support.

They even post it on the wall, a certain country pays so much for the same thing. I did visit the jail in Bali as a lot of Aussies where in there on drug charges. So I took a few buckets of KFC and it went down well.

Aussies mostly stick to Kuta and south, go elsewhere and you can escape the surfer dudes, i never noticed multi pricing the times i went, maybe a relatively new thing

Japan paid the most than Americans than Canadians than Aussies. Forget the money what I really didn't like was the hawkers that never let up. Popular Post BangkokReady
I don't think there is much to entice women to South East Asia. They have it so good in the West, why would they want to leave that? An oppressed group that apparently needs extra protection, who also gets to claim "but I'm a lady" and get help and free stuff whenever. Western men typically travel to Asia as there is some chance that their money can by them a little happiness and appreciation, rather than being completely taken for granted and forgotten about in the West. 2
recom273
I have never been to Bali, So I can't comment, but yeah, Indo, Sumatra - I was confused when I took the ferry from Penang to Medan, all these muscular young local guys hanging out in the Sputnik guesthouse, calling themselves guides. Then I would see them guiding elderly ladies along the tourist routes, Bukit Luang and Danu Toba.

If you come here as a single man, you are a sex tourist or expat! I have met some farang women, and they do have their interests and social life that keeps them here, but same as among many men, they feel lonely here in Thailand and do not find the happiness they are looking for. I think the problem is more about them than Thailand itself.
The Hammer2021
There is no particular culture of single women retiring abroad, anywhere. It's not an issue. Gambia and some parts of the carribean attract female sex tourists but not sexpats..

But western women, used to being the centre of attention, protected and put on a pedestal definitely feel ignored here. However, gay women love it here.
