Thailand's provincial governors and local leaders have been told to obey the latest order on Covid-19 issued by the PM Prayuth Chan-ocha - #15 effective from last Friday.

Interior ministry official Sutthipong Juncharoen called for strict implementation of measures in places like markets, hotels, places of entertainment and community areas, reported Daily News.

He also said that it was vital that those responsible in border areas perform their duties according to the order.

The order refers to what has been called "Universal Protection", the latest English language buzz-phrase.

Have they not noticed that their draconian measures are not working? In less than 2 months Japan reduced it's new case rate by 80% with much fewer restrictions, South Africa has only 500 new cases a day with far fewer restrictions. If this clampdown goes on much longer there will be far more outbreaks of "illegal" activity because the population are utterly sick of the boredom and lack of new cases being decreased.

You won't stop Covid, that is impossible - the genie is already out of the bottle and it is not going back in. However, you will stop the economy and that will lead to a financial and debt crisis that will be even harder to manage and will have political ramifications.

That's what it's all about, so goal achieved, mission accomplished.

Or look at Scandinavia; new cases and deaths almost down to zero, and life almost back to what it was like in 2019.

How do you feel if they treat to you as schoolkids??? They have to obey Mr Prayuth.... I thought he was handling adults and they they " don't" obey maybe they are not suitable for the job.... But just the " obey" .....

I would beg to differ; "Dad's Army" had some basis in fact, it was well regarded and is remembered fondly, and those playing a leading role were amongst the most talented in their professional generation...

Universal Protection by Universal Soldiers ?

GI Joe is around the corner to serve and protect. My a$$...

Let's assess the meaning - Tourism will be dead until 2023 for sure, probably longer..  Small and medium business will go bankrupt.  Rich foreigners and Thais will buy bankrupt properties for satang on the dollar.
When they finally "open" again the elite and wealthy will own everything.
Commoners will be told to accept extreme austerity in the name of "Climate Change."  Commoners will begin to die out.

I see that today the Governor of Chantanaburi has banned the sale of alcohol from all shops.

No no no - that's because everyone in Sweden is dead.  There are no more Swedes to die. That's gotta be the reason. Opening up is sure death!  The "Experts" and main-stream talking-heads told me so - so I believe!!! I believe!!!  Be Afriad!!!

Control Freaks in positions of power abound as they put their knee on the necks of the unwashed masses.

But... but... we were told "reopening" ? "Millions of tourists" ? "Learn how to live with the virus" ? etc.

No ?

That's not the roadmap ?

One governor has heard the generalissime, loud and clear !

Chanthaburi bans alcool... EVERYWHERE, even in stores...

Sensible action, he should be the Prime minister.
